hey blaska since we both have 4x4 atv's we should get together at the mounds and hit the mud. I wont be out there this weekend but I will be there the 6th or august. I'm getting some new rims and tires so I want to see how there are in the mud. Cory
For sure man let me know when your going agian yeahh
next weekend the 6th of august. I got those itp mud lite tires with the itp type 7 rims. I cant wait to try them out.

4 Stroke ==rocks GotMud?
for the sand dunes...2 stroke banshee
4 strokes all the way....
i loved my kx125, it hauled ass
i'll ride whatever, but i prefer 4 stroke, they're quieter and are easier to deal with
i find the 4 strokes that have aftermarket pipes to be louder and more annoying than a 2 stroke

Four storke all the way.Pour gas in it and go.
four stroke i love my yfz it has almost enough power, ==shrug but i still like getting on a cr250r and running the power band
I say two stroke! lol
simple math....4 stroke=4wheeler....2stroke=2wheeler...eachs has its place.... but this is an age old argument that probly wont be desided on untill 2 strokes arnt made any more
cant say much i have a 2-stroke bike and a 4-stroke quad
Ok well being a motocross racer for well most of my life I can tell you that 4 stroke is the only way to go...Now of cource this is only my opinion and only applies to bikes but here is what we have thought now for years... with a 4 stroke your fatigue will set in about half as fast as with a 2 stroke... sure the bikes are a little heavier but the difference in weight is so minor that the overall power and ability to ride it harder and longer on the track makes up for that... we were some of the very first people to switch over to the 4 strokes and now I think just about every real weekend to weekend racer is riding a 4 stroke... I can tell you looking forward in the future the 2 stroke bikes are going to start getting weened out..
2 strokes are fun but 4 strokes have came a long way
i will take the power band of a two stroke any day
four stroke
4 strokes is where its at all that tourqe you can get plus they are as quick as you need em to be 4 strokes last a hell ofa lot longer also

you get your 4 stroke and i will get out my good old 250r and smoke you all day. my dads 660r raptor wont even come close to it
I really enjoy 2 stroke dirt bikes. I've had 2 KX500s in the past and would have put them up against any 4 stroke bike or quad that wants to run the dunes.
Insert "Kawasaki Smiley" Here!!!!
if ur raceing i say 4 stroke but i dont race soo i like my two stroke 98 cr250r i raced a 2007 honda 450 and he beat me :[ (but in my defense i popt the clutch to early and almost flipped thats the bad part with the two strokes)
4 stroke ==dj

im kicking out bout 75 hp at the wheels no 450 will touch me. my budys bike is even faster it has a 350 kit in it and that thing is crazy fast
I like the 2 storkes a lot more but for easy of it all Ill will take a 4 stroke.
My old Yamaha was a 2 storke. the cool thing aobut that one was no mixing of the oil and gas. it did it all on its own.

FOUR STROKE is the way to go torque every where and go when you want it to you dont have to wait to the power band to get up and boggie! FOUR STOKE ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!1
I had a Banshee just didn't like the low end power loos.....Really like the torque of a 4 stroke...

not to mention the constant work a banshee takes to keep running right or else it will run like p00........ 4 strokes for sure
I do like the power of the 4 stroke, it just being there, not havin to wait for it but on the other hand i love my 2 stroke i love the sound that 2 stroke smell but not good to run in the winter lol power band kicks in and...down u go lol
4 Stroke! low end torque is where its at
the power band on a 2 stroke hits allot harder but u have to be on the pipe to keep it were u want it, but the 4 stroke is power when u need it from start to finish
I've been on both sides at the same time! My dad and I had always been 2 stroke snobs and I think it was mainly just to resist change...Grew up on 2 stroke and became very good at building, maintaining and tuning them so it never seemed like a hassle. I love a well built 2 stroke power band and my Banshee absolutely ripped. Had a +6 swing arm, narrowed rear axle, 406 kit, cool jet head, fat boy pipes, turbine core silencers, pearl white caddy paint frame with deep cherry metal flake race cut plastics and was just plain sweet. Great drag machine...My 2003 Suzuki Z400 is awesome all around. I'm running a cam kit and Yoshi head back pipe and that livened it right up. All around the z400 is more fun on any terrain and although not as top end fast, I probably have more fun on it. 4 strokes have come along way to become competitive, lighter and more track friendly and cost of parts has come down...I like both I guess.

Good opinion, but i have to respectfully dissagree. 4 strokes made a huge hit but 2 strokes are getting back in the swing of things. as a 12 year ama member and working in a family owned motorcycle shop for 6 years, alot of hare scrambles racers, weekend warriors and people who are struggling to make ends meet just so they can race that weekend (myself being one of those people) are all going back from the 4 stroke to the 2 stroke. there cheapier to buy, race, and work on. Plus you can race a 250 2 stroke vs the 250 4 stroke in ama. sure 4 strokes make the average person a faster, but they also make them more lazy rider. ktm still makes a full line of 2 stroke bikes including a new fuel injected oil injected 250/300. But my best advice, ride what you get the BEST deal on. no one makes a bad bike. im just happy to still be riding. =)
I started racing back in the 70's when people were riding both, and continued racing when there were no four strokes and then made the jump to the four strokes before the wave hit when I bought an early model Husaberg. I can honestly say that there is no other bike that makes power like a Husaberg. It is simply the fastest dirt bike made. That said, when you begin to make serious power with a four stroke, they become hard to start, loud, they break easilly, and are about 3 times as expensive to repair as a two stroke. I'm 45 now and I'm really tired of trying to start them when they're hot in the middle of summer. I recently began building a couple two stroke bikes that will behave like 4 strokes without all the headache. I am currently putting old school YZ490 motors into late model YZ250 frames. One of them will be water cooled when it's done. These are the bikes I hope to be on in 2012. The big bore 2 strokes will grunt hard off the bottom like a 4 stroke, are easier to start, weigh a lot less, and are cheap to maintain. Works for me!

I'm with Chris-puddlejumper
I raced motocross for a lot of years also and the technology and power and weight difference between the 2 and 4 strokes are insane now days. To take a bike made 10 years ago and compare it to today's bikes is incredible. They both have pros and cons but I still choose the 4 stroke.
I cann't vote, I like both!!!!! I will ride any thing as long its fun!!!
4 stroke for sure, my kxf 450 is fuel injected and thing screams, and my 250f is faster than any 125 ive ever rode.

elaborate please? i hade a 79 yz250 and thought about water cooling many times. jim adema had a 70's thunderjet with a free air 292 single with a custom water cooled cylinder. i saw the sled at a vinteage sled swap and show, it was a peice of art haha.
i realy like the modern yellow plastics
im in montrose and would love to see your conversions some time

ok back on topic lol
i am a fan of both. i had an 04 suzuki z400 and loved it, unfortunatly a cr500 doin 60 mph made a quick mess of the frame, swinger, and axle.
after that i got an 86 cr500. there is nothing like trying to hold on to that thing its either spinning the tire or trying to kill you lol
yesterday i picked up a 2004 troy lee predator. this is the nicest quad i have ever rode. extremely fast and agile

ive owned both and like stated above when yuou own a 2 stroke tuning becomes a natural everyday thing and it isnt a hassle, ive rode some fast 450s and 660s and rode 426s n 400 bikes, but nothing compares to the good ol 2 stroke, banshees tore down at the moment and yes i will admit they are a pain to start with, not something you can just hop on and go on most occasions, but my ytz 250, i love it fell in love the first time i rode it, has all of the low end i want and still has the mid to top too! has a hellova power band, scares me every time i ride it, outta every corner its got serious banshee killer power, buddy had a .80 over trx250r with pipe and bigger carb, reeds n what not, i would either beat him or it would be and even race, banshees really arnt too fast, the gearing in them isnt for racing, idk what it is but my 250 runs and runs good and i dont plan getting rid of her anytime soon, im restoring her a little at a time i just got the seat cover redone
