i was wondering what you guys thought of driveshaft loops??? because i was wondering if they helped out alot incase of breakage??? what do u guys think ? ? ?
i know on performance cars they are a must have. if you run a front and rear loop it'll save the underside of your vehicle in case of breakage. a spinning driveshaft will whip around wildly at any speed and cause some major wreckage. you can see for yourself if you have a universal joint for like a socket extension. put it in a drill or air gun and give it a go. it'll whip around quite violently causing damage.
I wish I had loops when I broke the yoke on the rear axle.

I use them they saved my butt a few times
Driveshaft loops are a great idea. I need to get off my butt and install some on my rig.
i have them on the front of mine, i broke the side of my trany out from my drive shaft swinging around. soon to be on back. safty is allways good.
definately very good to had! blew up my front shaft at a bog, flung around and bent up my oil pan a little bit. it finally found itself a home between my spring hanger and the frame loll coulndt get that ==cuss outta there!
Driveshaft loops are a GREAT thing to have when they break.
look up some videos on you tube.. when they go... they go out with a bang!
if your just muddin trail riding they are great. but if you ever plan on hittin the rocks they can be a hinderance as far as clearance goes. they are deffinatly a good investment if its not a rock crawler.
i hit oil pan to just to lasse to put them on but thanks for a reminder im going to do that this winter
I had them on the Jeep that I use to own but Im going to install them on the new truck this winter. They are a great safety device.
i dont have any but they sound like a good idea !!

i was at the local transmision shop today. they just had a 95 bronco come with a broken front driveshaft. for some yet unknown reason the front driveshaft locked up at about 60 miles per hour and gave the driver a new experience driving terror. the front shaft was in at least 4 pieces that i saw. after the bronco was up on the hoist the damage was more visable. shifting cable broke , transmision case broke, transfer case broke, front output yoke broke, 5 holes in floorboard from broken driveshaft spining out of contrtol, PRICELESS!! i was planning on putting loops on anyway , but now i plan on putting 2 on each axle.

last weekend at Thompsons I saw three trucks that could have used em!
yea they are a great idea makes it a pane in the but when you have to change the driveshaft but it will save you an oil pan
ive seen people make them out of 5in well pipe and drill hole in the webbin of the carrier and mount them that way....that is what im going to do very soon!
Damn, that sux dude. At least no one took of your truck bed like on Jack@$$ the movie lol
ouch i don't have them but if you r goin to lots of horse power under the hood i think you would be crazy not to use them
A have a friend whos girlfriend was killed when his cutlass blew the front u-joint on the rear driveshaft. The drive shaft caught the road somehow and the car flipped. Happened a long time ago but its a good lesson.
safe is best ill be addin some too ==np
since my last post, i put mine on the rear. Saved my butt twice now. Well worth the time to put it on.
had a front shaft let go on a '93 dakota biggest peice of the t-case i could find was about the size of a soft ball, tore up tranny lines, fuel lines, went through the floor, so ya good idea!! gotta build myself one when it warms up!!
got one for each shaft, gonna install soon.
ok but on gmc2.5 tons i was wanting, monster truck looking ones but hows it attach to the axle?
and sould i have 1 inbetween my 2 tranfers its only like 8'' of driveshaft.
probably going to have mount it to the rock somehow.....ill take pics of mine once i get my truck back from WTF fab. I gotta figure some thing out too......ill keep ya posted!

Every drive shaft should have one. I had them on my old truck front and rear but haven't fabbed some up for "Twitchy" or "Feel'in Froggy" yet
should you put one at axle end or tcase trans end??
Id say middle of shaft.
I had mine at the rear yolk on the jeep... I figured if it snapped at the tcase ( only on a bogger) that it wouldnt rotate to many times as with out the rear digging i would know something broke and let off.
