Im am working on a 85 shortbox nothing to radical yet. I have put in a 3 inch body lift that my wife bought at sale for 50 cents. I am swapping out the axles from the 10/12 bolt with 3.08 gears to D44/14bolt with 4.10 gears. The 14 bolt has been welded. Tires were junk when I got the truck so I bought a used set from Big Dog. I took the rubber mat that was in the cab out and am going to cover with Herculiner Bed liner. I also made new front and rear bumbers for the truck. I have a picture of the Jeep that I traded for the 85 and the rest are of the 85. Ill try to keep this updated with new pics as I am making progress. It will be done for Gladwin Bog.
More pics
3 more
These are the old tires the one on the truck and the new ones and the rear end out. And that is were I stopped today.

The Blue Blazer in the back was a buddy of mines. He sold that last year.
Well so far today I got both the front and rear axles bolted up. Just have to run hook up the brake lines front and rear. Install steering arm and put the new shafts in the front. Drive shafts front and rear and put tires on. Hopefully I will have completed pics tonight or tomorrow night. I had to stop because I had to go to a safety meeting at work. Other wise it would have been done today.
Well this is what it is going to look like for this year.

looks like fun!
Ok the truck didnt make it to Gladwin. It developed a vacuum leak that we cannot find. At least it is acting like a vacuum leak. Problem with is when I start it it wont idle any lower that 1500 RPMs and as soon as I put it in gear it dies on me. So I found an Edelbrock carb from a guy at work so I am going to change carb and intake. Hopefully this works
==kp looks good i`ll have to stop and check it out
looking good!!

so did the carb and intake take care of the problem for you? Good luck should throw some sh@t!!!!

I didnt get a intake yet. Just talked to your brother and he said that he has an adapter to mount it to my stock intake hopefully that takes care of it.
Ok the truck didnt turn out the way I wanted it to. Just had to many problems surface to enjoy it this year. First off for Gladwin bog developed a vacuum leak. So I bought a Edelbrock 600CFM and a Torker 2 intake from Cammache Dan(thanks Dan for all your help). When this was installed the fuell pump took a dump on me was shoot gas into crank case. While that started the mains knocking. So for a quick fix we replaced the pump and did an oil change with 50 weight oil to stop the knocking. Which it did. Now the t-case keeps jumping out of low lock. So after running it at 2 bogs and working on it more than driving it decided to do a complete rebuild. I made up my mind that it might be out of comission probably all next year but it will be worth it. The truck is in way to solid to just make a beater out of it so this is my plan for it. First im taking the body off the frame going to blast it then spray it with undercoating. The cab is going to get a full cage and 5 point harness. Swapping out the 44 for a 60. I picked up another motor that I am probable going to build a stroker out off. The 4 inch suspension lift that is in it now is going to be replaced with either a 6 or 8 and Im planning on running either 42's or 44's. Putting a fuel cell in the bed and moving battery in bed also. Think about radiator in back also . Havent decided on color to paint it yet or a name for it. Once I start to tear it apart I will start posting pictures. Once again I would like to thank Dan for the help that he has given me so far and hope that we can lead a hand again when needed.

sounds cool
i hav a 6-8inch lift on mine and 39.5s, they rub, so unless you want to cut the fenders, i would suggest eather smaller tires or bigger lift
It also has a 3 inch body lift on it that Im keeping. And plan on cutting fenders a little.
Sounds like a killer plan! ==np
sound awesome cant wait to see the pics
keep us informed
Well on Friday 11-7-08 I started the reconstruction of my truck. What I got completed was the front clip and box are now off the truck. Hoping on Monday I can get the cab off the frame and get the motor, tranny and t-case pulled. Would have been done with all of by today but had to work Sat and Sun(12hr shifts) so didnt do anything to truck. Once everything is off Im going to sand blast the frame bottom of cab and bottom of box then cover with Hyculiner bed liner. I will post some pics that I took of it when I get home tonight. Will keep this posted as I progress through the build.
Love that stocky short box look with that hood. Nice Rig!
==thumbsup Keep up the good work Steve!

Well this weekend I got the truck down to just the frame. Next im going to remove the gas tank and all the fuel and brake lines then its going to get sand blasted and painted. Im in no hurry to finish this so I work on it when I get bored. I decided Im not going to rush anything and do it right. Will keep this updated as I get thingss finished.

I say go for the Screamin' Booger!
Well here is how the truck is sitting as of today. Have just about everything off the frame that needs to be off. The only thing left to remove is the steering box and the saddles for the gas tank. THen its going to get blasted and sprayed with bed liner. Heres a couple of pics with everything off nothing to interesting. Will keep the progress updated.

Actually you really didnt do all that much. I think that all I am going to have to replace is the drivers rocker. I have to replace the drivers side fender only because I crushed it in we we got it air born and landed sideways on the drivers side front tire.
Ok well the project is going real slow for right now. But here are some pics as of today as to what I have done since the last post. I have passenger side frender, door, and tail gate in primer. Bottom of box is in primer also. The passenger side wheel well is painted black. I also have started to strip the drivers side door. Which was full of Bondo. Have no clue as to why but I think someone was using it to practice on becasue there are no dents or rust holes in it. Probably will start posting pics more frequently now that its starting to warm up. I was going broke buying Kerosene through the winter. Im in need of a good woodstove so if anyone has one or knows of one for sale let me know.
progress looks great!!!!
Keep up the good work!!

I was hoping to get to talk to you at Gladwin but we were all over the place takling to everyone. Seen when you broke your truck. I will be at bogs this summer but not in my truck more than likely I will be in a black Cherokee with a Yamaha sticker on the back window. But thanks to everyone on the coments. Im starting ot get the itch to hurry up and get the truck done but I just keep telling myself to go slow and do it right so Im not going through this again like I am right now.
In Forsale section
Man, that's a bummer you're selling it. Should be a nice ride when someone finishes it up.
BUMP
Looks good!
nice looking truck
Yes it was a nice looking truck. I ended up trading the truck for a sled last spring. Some kid in Unionville or Sebwing ownes it now. He was going to make it his daily driver
