Ok with all of this booster seat law stuff brings me to a question when I finally get the slayer done would my four year old have to be in a booster seat at the mounds or would he be ok in just a seat belt. (he'll be five in july) He is approx. 44" tall and weighs 54 pounds. Please let me know what ya'll think.. Thanx
my opinion is:
as long as you dont drive like a idiot, he will be ok in a seatbelt,
booster seat lets him see out the windows. also lowers shoulder strap to his chest not neck
Better to pay very close attention to your driving habits..
booster would help him see and improve where the shoulder belt rides
but I've taken my boy out in just a belt, I have him put his arm over the shoulder belt to keep from burning his neck (strap burns suck)
I generally put a bicycle helmet on my young'n too, just in case.
thanks for you replies but one I don't have window it is a mud buggy two there is no shoulder staps just lap.
==dn i would still put him in the booster seat, alot safer for em. Cannaerts boy is 4 and he still puts him in the booster seat in the back seat of his jeep. They have the shoulder straps and are designed to be much safer.

Then my next ? would be,, bench/bucket ? if a bucket seat.. truck type or deep racing seat?
I've found my boy does'nt get held well in a racing bucket without a booster.
The back seat is a bench seat out of a K-5 blazer I may still put the shoulder straps in if I can find some that will mount where I need them to.I might go walking the junk yards and see what they have.

My kids booster seat likes to tip over going around sharp corners even though it is tight as hell...I think the main reason is it is a lap belt in the back seat of my Suburban. I think they need to change the law and take into account for vehicles that only have lap belts. I feel it is more dangerous with him in that booster seat because without one I can strap his ass nice and tight right to the seat it's self.
Vehicles with shoulder straps I believe the booster seat would be safer because the belt crosses their chest. IMO when ya take him wheelin ditch the booster seat if you have just lap belts.
When I was 4yrs old I was in the back seat of my parents car strapped in with a lap belt and we got into a real bad accident (Real Bad) and I did not get a scratch...my parents was always real anal about using seat belts and always made sure everyone was strapped in properly, till this day I am the same way and teach my kids the same.
No one rides in my Vehicle unbuckled, I don't even care if you are an adult and riding in the back seat if you don't buckle up you can walk!
personally I'd use a booster seat, my boy is going to be 7 in a few months, I'm sure he'd be fine off road with just a seat belt, as long as ya take it easy...
well i would put him in the booster but hey i am only 17 what would i no. but it just sounds right.
