on a subject i rarely see talked about, for those guys running 38's or bigger what do you use for brakes to stop those big tires? i plan on running dana 60's F&R on my dodge and plan on a rear disc conversion but what are the biggest brake choices for the best stopping power?
disc.. all the way, even stock setup will lock them tires up NO PROBLEM in mud, even on anything other than pavement, never tried my 42s on pavement
Disks up front
stock drums in the rear.
Need to keep an eye on pads/shoes though.. boggin and mud etc... wear out shoes/pads real quick.
i just run a pinion brake on the rear and it stops me good
im switchin to pinion brake on rear output of t-case. disc are great though all around.
none!!!! you dont need them
going to be street driven. kinda need brakes
i got 38 on my jeep with stock brakes. actualy no brakes in the rear i dirve it
stops fine as long as u use sone distance
I run frt single piston frts and 2006 rear axle with dual piston rears. Stops 39.5x18x16.5 mickeys real well.

GotMud?
if you are using a chevy, 4 wheel disk is the way to go, but,, yoiu also have to change the aportioning valve ( it regulates brake pressure between the front and back and it is where the front lines split)..to one that is for 4 wheel disk.. cadillac used this system for yrs..so i recommend changing to one of those. but for off road use only, i highly recommend a brake located on the transfercase..
i use an anchor just thow it out and hope for the best ==djdj ==kk
I like BD's idea best loll i use standard brakes on dana 60 front the 14 bolt has none lost somewhere loll still stops 44's boggers great ==np
