Title: Car question
Post by: Groundhawger on July 01, 2008, 12:40:31 PM
we have an 01 chevy lumina, it has the 3100v6 in it. went out to start it one day, and it doesnt turnover. i have power everywhere. when i turn key on accessories, the security light is flashing. it never did that before. i thought it may have been the computer chip in the key was bad, so i bought a new key and it still doesnt start. i was told i can bypass the security system. does anyone know how to do that or have any other idea's? thanks GH

Turn the key to the on position and leave it there for about a half hour.  When the security light stops flashing turn the car off then back on.  If light stays on steady you should be able to start the car.

At least you tried.  If you can find somebody with access to Alldata or Shop Key maybe they can print you off a copy of the reset proceedures.

put the key in the ignition and unhook the passlock sensor connector at the bottom of the column. It should be two little white wires with a orange shealth. Measure continuity across the terminals there should be continuity. If not the ignition sw is bad. I will bet money the wires are broken at the switch they always do. Only way to get ignition sw is through local dealer. have any more ?'s feel free to call me 231-250-6724
