Title: broken cam
Post by: Squirell on July 20, 2008, 01:20:56 AM
well i took the jeep today to a burnout contest to finish off the motor that was hurting, well got to the burnout and the motor and trans didnt want to cooperate. so out of frustration i put it on the trailer and stood on the throttle till it quit running. well it threw the oil freeze plug out the back of the motor and when we pulled the valve covers we found three missing pushrods and on really bent one, pulled the intake and found three broken lifters and a broken cam. just wondered who else has broke a cam. Mine is in three pieces in the motor. thought this was a accomplishment

The only time I've broken a cam is when a connecting rod said hello to it.

i don't understand being happy for breaking stuff. my object is to not break stuff so i don't gotta waste a ton of money to fix it. broken engine parts get expensive real quick. spending 700 bucks to upgrade because of a wiped out cam in my s10 engine

what is the point in keeping $100 junkyard motors together. it is more fun blowing them up. when i build one i might be mad

When I was in college I DESTROYED a 350 by stickin twin Chrystler 2.2 turbos on it. 18lbs of boost and 6000 rpms and the engine let loose. Broke the cam in several places, bent a couple rods and threw a rod through the block. The teacher wasn't too mad since it was a dyno mule that he had $25 into. It sure was fun tho!!

No more jeep jeep though I hear.  Where'd it go?  I'm also waiting for my 355 SBC to let go but it just doesn't seem to want to die yet.  Give me more drive to build my BBC.

i tried to destroy the 350 in my 82 chevy that i swamped twice in my buddies pond.  burned oil like crazy. zero oil pressure,  sounded pretty bad but it still held 6200 rpm with no miss or anything.  then it died.  but it fired right back up so i put it to the flloor again and i could only get about 5700 rpm outta it.  but it never blew i was kind of disappointed  lol.  maybe its a good thing cuz thats going ot be the motor im going ot eventually build  unless i can find a cheap bbc to build for it
