i have a couple of minutes to type, so i'll post what i learned.  buy the book chasse eng by herb adams and read it a couple of times. take a look around and see what type of frame you like/part of, take pics and mesurements, notes(a pic with the tape in it is great or some thing to use as a scale cough "beer can" cough).see if the owner or builder is around and ask questions with one of them being if he/she had to do it again what advice would they give.

material size and type. good ? ask 10 people and you will get 12 answers. i noticed a leming affect on this from the mini trucking world and it is not alwas the best thing. ex 3x3 box tube is better than 2x3 for vertical bending ,reality they both have the same height verticaly so they are just about the same. triangulation is your friend.if you dont have a desent welder(not a 110) buy one.

a couple of tricks, weld the top and sides and then tip it up to get to the bottem welds(saves burns) ;D. if you can leave the frame in the same spot from start to finish, it saves a lot of levaling time. get a second hand when you square and level for the first time.try to jig it up at a good working hieght, your back will thank you.jason at suicidedoors.com has a lot of brackets and parts cheap. time to go back to work.

the dokes built a new frame for grumpy, had a it up on a table in their barn when i saw it. good working height, level, etc. is the most important

I'm tired of rust so I am building my next frame out of wood.
