Correct.. Ollies last name is North..   ie Oliver North.. your clue was the salute.

Ok, we know I'm heading North to start, heres your next riddle:

A snowbird will cross the waters at the trap of tourists.

where is the first stop?

P.S.  Answer the clues rather than trying to find the destination and the destination will reveal itself in the end.

applaudd  very good, west on hwy 2

your next one wont be as easy, you may need a map.

A hard days ride, change highways before the  mountain of steel.
A game of cards with the cows on the highway of the dead mans hand, it will be hard to beat a pair by sundown and no sleep before the mighty one.

on what road? and no stoping until....

Title: Re: 5 days and a wakeup!
Post by: Mudbuster on July 28, 2008, 02:59:47 AM
OK I'll give it a try

hard days ride, change highways before the  mountain of steel = Iron Mountain

A game of cards with the cows = wisconson

on the highway of the dead mans hand = hwy 8

it will be hard to beat a pair by sundown = you will pass hwy 55

and no sleep before the mighty one. = Monico

so you will be getting off on Hwy 8 and stoping for the night in Monico WI. ==shrug
Title: Re: 5 days and a wakeup!
Post by: Hammerlane on July 28, 2008, 03:42:43 PM
ya got the 1st 3 correct, definately on the right track

mountain of steel = Iron Mountain
game of cards with the cows = Wisconsin
highway of the dead mans hand = ace's and EIGHTS = hwy 8

try try again  ;D
Title: Re: 4 days and a wakeup!
Post by: Mudbuster on July 28, 2008, 10:04:16 PM
Ok I'll try again since I already got the first three right I'll just do the others

it will be hard to beat a pair by sundown = Hwy 27 ( the cards that Doyle brunson (spelling) is know for playing)

and no sleep before the mighty one = You'll be stoping in Bruce wisconson ( from the movie Bruce Almighty)

If this still isn't right can I just guess where your going I think I know ???
Title: Re: 4 days and a wakeup!
Post by: Hammerlane on July 29, 2008, 01:25:10 AM
a pair by sundown = follow hwy 8.. it goes to St Paul/Minneappolis.. the TWIN cities   ie.. a pair     ( this is also a 350 mile ride, tuff to do by sundown)
no sleep before the mighty one = the MIGHTY Mississippi

So the rest of it was gonna be..

easy goin now, the 2 of us.. 4 wheels, 2 headlights, yet we're both in control  -- how is this possible?

Head west to where the hills are always dark and we will see 4 great men and a galloping lunitic.. where are we going, and who will we see?

Go ahead, I like your thinkin by the way..  ==np

Father in law is coming in tonight..
been workin on the bikes every night this week..
2 oil changes done, 2 tool kits put together (1 standard, 1 metric  ??? ==doh ==censor)
his neutral switch on the bottom of the motor is leaking, should have that fixed tonight.
got his windshield mounted, got mine cut down (shortened it 2 1/2 inches).

Anybody know where I can buy a tire repair kit - dealerships don't sell them..  some BS about liability.

prolly k marts/wallmarts or hardware store , you could always buy a xtra tube, not sure of that cost tho,
have fun, make memorys & be safe !

Both bikes have cast aluminum wheels, no tubes,  just lookin for a quick fix to get us down the road until a proper repair can be made.. but I'll check into those thanx.

Hopefully the Great Spirit will grant me a safe journey to and from Sacred ground.
This is as much a purifying, religious experience as it is a motorcycle trip out west.

4 1/2 days there, 3533 miles round trip, less than 200 miles of interstate the entire trip.
multiple breakdowns with Randys bike, I am the king of redneck roadside repairs.. x5
fender strut (3 times) before I made a new one out of 1/4" flat stock.
clutch cable retainer at the lever (made a new one out of 3/8" threaded pipe fitting, with a      multi tool and a hacksaw blade)
Clutch cable ( Yamaha on one end, Harley Davidson on the other)

Baaaad Weather in Wisconsin on the way out, slept in a real nice camper though, Thanks Pam.
4 days in Sturgis, rode the Black hills, Badlands, Spearfish canyon.. and broke down for a day.

The trip back.. 4 1/2 days, Big storm chased us for the first day, we took different roads back
rain caught us on day 2, stayed with us thru day 3, day 4 we made the U.P.
hopped over the bridge and bar hopped all the way back to Fowlerville and ended the trip at
Easyriders roadeo tour at the fairgrounds..
