i got a 97 f-250 with the good ole twin under it what does it involve stuffin a straight axle under it. thanks 4 anyones knowledge. ;D
stripping out all the old running gear, then finding a set of leaf springs that will give u the right ride height......, mounting ur spring perches, bolt up the axle and do ur stearing....., I plan on doing it to my 93 ford
Not sure on this , but I was told the frames on the F-150's and 250's were not made to be leaf sprung, something about a "crumple zone?" ??? and that a coil spring set up had to be used ==dunno

thats probably right, cuz the first 8" or so of the frame is made to crumple up......
my 94 f250 is leaf sprung TTB... would be easy to do SFA

yes ford made leaf sprung TTB's my buddy had one for a while it was before the superduty's when they brought back the strait axle.

Just the F-150's are coil front, I mispoke myself.
Cage Offroad makes a bolt in SAS kit for coil font ends, but it's expensive, about $2000
easy simple and if your shop around cheap. older broncos were coil sprung and had solid axles. not sure on years cuz i'm not a ford guy but all you have to do is take the axle out of an early bronco and put it right into your truck. as far as i'm aware it's pretty much a direct bolt in. as for the ones who have I beam truckw tih leaf springs yes you can do the same only with a leaf spring straight axle. a friend of mine has a 87 F250 that had twin I beam but now has a soild axle in it and didn't have to do much other then get a new axle, cut the i beam mounts out and bolt everything in with some lift springs

Its a bolt in swap using factory parts. I've done 4 of em. ==np
Find a F350 Dana 60 front from a '87 to '97, any will work.
**Make sure you get the factory track-bar and track bar bracket with the axle.** You can even use your factory leafs, though they are a little lower than F350's,(about 2 inches). You can bolt up the track bar bracket using factory holes in the crossmember under the motor where the TTB center pivot brackets bolted up. You are definately going to want that track bar, scary bump steer without it. Use the F350 steering setup, tie-rod, drag-link, and pitman arm.
There was a F350 Dana 60 front in the Shop & Swap for a good price from a '97 I believe.
I'm going to be doing another one in the next week or 2, its a '94 F250.

yup u re correct mine re this way i have lifed leaf spring up front from a donor and i put a dana 60 up front no problem , easy.... just like others
