Title: water water everywhere
Post by: Jeep Thrills on August 01, 2008, 01:41:13 AM
Anyone know of a good way to keep the coil and distributor from getting wet on a cj5 with a 304? It seems like it only takes a little bit of water splashed up to make the engine cut out.

I'm thinking it's actually the coil that is the problem, since  I've pulled the cap off and there is no water in it. The top of the divorced coil is wet every time.

silicone wire and plug it in and let dry and if you silicone it right no water can get in at all even if you are 10 foot deep in the water

Try some high quality igntion wires.  I douch the hell out of my rig and it rarely gives me a problem.

On my figure 8 cars we run in rain mud or whaterver..  I use an old tire inner tube cut it oversize for your cap, wrap over whole Dist. and ziptie snug at bottom.

could put a good thick layer of wheelbearing grease on it, friend does that to his demo car, works good too.
