Does anybody out there run cast iron lift blocks on front axle? i know about the axle rap issue..but it seams to me to not be a prob on my old ford...lets see what someone has to say..any bad experiences at all?
illegal for road use..... offroad, run ladder bars you should be fine...
would if i were to cut some older "junk leaf springs" into ohh lets say bout 10-20" pieces and get a new longer leaf centering bolt and bolt them on to the leafs i run now and it would be kinda like running blocks but much safer ya?

thats a smart idea but i have no idea if its safe
Lift blocks are a bad idea for a street vehicle due to the huge rotational load placed on them during heavy braking. I've run front lift blocks for years in my bogger with ladder bars and have not had any issues. I would suggest a different spring or drop your spring perches down from the frame to achieve the same effect. The only reason I run front lift blocks is because I was BROKE when I put my axles in.

==dn why not just get the right springs and never have to worry about them?
well the way i look at it its just pritty much building ur own leafs..."add a leaf" if ya will ...many of them i was thinkin about stepin the pieces of leafs down start at like 20 inches and just subtract an inch for the next one down and so on ..i want to stack the bout 3" down more CAUSE I NEED THE LIFT AND IT IS CHEAP ALTERNATIVE!!!! and i cant offord any bigger leafs ....if someone out there has any lifted leafs ..and would be interested for trade for transmission or axles or tires i have a crap load of parts all are spares for my chevy..in good workin order
the thing is im not runnin stock leafs in front i have 3" lift leafs up there ..there a stack of five and dont flex with weight that much..they arc downward unlike the stock ones that are somewhat arc upward
got a 2" on it right now but i have a 4" also i was just gonna put it on as well
and plus the guy i had gotton the truck from lowerd the tcase down but have no clue how much the truck had a 8" lift all around before i got it he put the stock springs in cause he wanted to keep them and 3" block remand in rear and the steering was dinked with to acount for the lift...plus i have the arm and crap for a bigger lift but i just need a good set of leafs but can only trade parts for some cause i have very little money going into it right now..ya see that ..bad thing
ok I,ll admit to it, I had 3" lift blocks on front & rear of my 86 Chevy since 88 along with 2 extra leafs added in the front & 4 extra leafs on the rear. I drove that truck everywhere including mudding it on the weekends. I sold the truck 3 years ago & the blocks are still under there today, never did have a problem with them at all. They was homemade blocks & center pins welded together tho. The lift was about 10" suspension & had 3" body lift, was able to fit 44x18.5x15s under it. quiett
ya ...i have a few of friends that run them in front .."there real ingenious" with comin up with cheap alteratives .....and im wonderin how much body lift blocks you can stack before it becomes a problem?i already acounted for the floor shifter length and steering.
same thing with the axle lift blocks... higher you go... the more leverage there is on it.........
yaa
Whats with liftin em to the sky anyhow?? never really cared for it myself..
I have a 4" suspension lift and I run 40's
keep it low, retain your driveline angle and do fewer repairs.
if ya guys hear of anyone that has some lifted leafs for trade let me know i want at least 6" all around...cause if i only am runnin 3" blocks in the rear and 4" in the front and the truck already stands bottom at wast -i am 6'2"- its allrighty to go just little bigger right...i can trade..... i got trannys,203 t cases here up the ass,one 205..axles..headers.intakes,msd stuff, mallory stuff, got a good set of groundhawgs 35"10.5 w on a 15" rim be quite a bit to trade in for them...but i need those damn springs

show me they do
I have yet to inspect any Commercial vehicle that has any sort of block under the front axle
I'm not trying to start a pissing match but I have seen a few vehicles with short blocks in the front axles. One that I can think of (if I rember right) is the newer Ford Super Duty 4x4. I remember seeing them and being suprised that the factory had a block under the spring.
i just seen a new f150 running down the road with 3 blocks high stacked up under each axle..yes straight front axle and it was blocked too..i think he was top heavy cause he took the corners at .5 mph haha
I have 2 inch blocks in both my boggers, with no problems, just keep your stuff tight!

the illegality part is for street vehicles, unless you tear up the streets w/ your bogger loll
why? i got 2 springs on each side in the front out of the rear of a cherokee, about 4 inches, and clear 40s with no modifications, lost the fenders and i clear 50 tractors LOL
i actually havnt touched the rear suspension on my truck

you mean you made an add a leaf out of the cherokee springs?
i just broke my packs open, left the main leaf on the truck and with a longer center bolt added 2 springs on each side. doesnt ride bad even with no front shocks.
gets ya 3-4 inches on the stock chevy spring pack
thats always an idea i have to try it
school buses at the campground had lift blocks, i know this cause one of em tryed fallin out when the u bolt snaped. My parts truck had custom leafs, maybe talk to betterbeaters? i think he might have done that to it. Looked like a old set of leafs put under another set, made it about 3'' lift i think.
i wont ever run blocks in the front, to much risk. I seem to land on the front end too much, prolly not a good idea with blocks.
dont want to end up like this... (http://wegotmud.com/pictures/4-15-2007B/100_2282%20(Small).jpg) ==lmaoo
wait take the whole set of springs and just bolt em on with a new centering bolt?
what i did with me old leafs before i got 12's was i took my 4 or 6 inch lift and took some 1 ton springs and combined them

i know thats not what caused it, that trucks 2wd, just sayin.. i dont want to end up like that lol. That was i belive the front bolt that goes threw the leaf, broke and the leaf folded under the truck... not for sure tho.
i was told when they welded the the spring brackets on they just tacked them, and for got to finish welding them. a good old onist mistake. ==dunno
