yes the serp setup off 4.3, 5.0 and 5.7's will work on an older smallblock you just have to use the water pump off an 89 or newer 4.3, 5.0 or 5.7 since they are counterclockwise rotation. I've got a serp system off a 91 4.3 s10 on my jeep.

here's my setupnot the best pic but here it is anyways.

so long as the 4.3 waterpump doesnt have the extra press fit piping on it

1994 or so and newer they added extra hoses and press type pipes to the waterpumps on all the engines.

Also they changed to a screw nut fan setup where the fan screws on the waterpump flange
neither of which should be a problem if you don't need the fitting for the heater then cap it off, as for the fan I'm sure he's running an electric fan so it won't make a difference.

It would look dumb for one thing

I dont think it would hurt it, one goes into the intake and the other into the heater core

a new one is less than 40 bucks if its NOT the screw nut fan type

whos gonna see my water pump???

that'll work just fine you'll either have to plug off the water pipe on the pump or hook it to the heater core and remember what it's from so if you need to buy part's latter on you can get the right ones ==np
