Just wondering if anybody could help me, want to know if a 360 can be made into a 390, and what it takes????????
yes and I think you bore it out... one of my buddys did it but it ran hot alot and blew a few head gaskets!
the 360 and 390 have the same bore. The 360 had a shorter stroke crank if you put a 390 crank into a 360, then you will have a high compression 390. But if there is a ridge at the top of the cylinders, they will have to be removed first, or you'll get ring hang-up.
to make a 390 use a 390 crank and pistons. to make a 410 use 428 crank, 390 pistons and stock 360 rods.
if you get new pistons, make sure you get the right compression height on the piston pin boss(where the pin is in relation to the the height of the piston). you don't want it to come out of the hole and smack the head or valves!!!!!!!!!!
