i have a 2001 chevy lumina with a 3.1. engine blew up and now im pulling it to replace it. im stumped on a few things. how do i get the fuel lines off? also what about the power steering. how do i get that off or get the lines off. Am i supposed to pull the axle shafts for any reason? also how do i get to the torque converter bolts? thanks alot in advance for the help
Pull the fuel lines with a special release tool, as stated before. Remove the starter to gain access to the torque converter bolts. Remove the three bolts that hold the power steering put to the mounting bracket and lay aside. Dont unhook the lines or remove the pulley, it will come out with out all of that work. Dont have to pull the axles for any reason. unbolt the trans bracket on the passenger side where it bolts to the block. Then there is one belll housing bolt that will need to be removed from the passenger side wheel well as it threads into the trans through the block. Dont remove the coil packs either as there is enough room to get that out all as one assembly. hope this helps with any luck you should have this out in about 1.5-2 hours.
