Title: leaf spring question
Post by: chevystudz7105 on October 28, 2008, 03:00:08 AM
i got a 91 1/2 ton 4wd silverado.  and im wondering whats the diff between the leaf springs on my truck and the ones on a 3/4 ton silverado.   i think the truck is either a 97 or 98. isnt it just the number of leaf springs.  3/4 ton has one or two more doesnt it?  my buddy is parting out his 97 or 98 3/4 ton truck and told me 20 for both rear leaf springs for my truck if i want them.  only reason im interested in them  is me and my buddy put an add a leaf on my truck and well we screwed up a lil when we did it.  we took the extra leaf we had which happened to be the one with the braket riveted or welded to the leaf spring and we jsut cut that off.  well when we put it in with the rest of the leaf springs  it was to shorter.  (leaf spring on top was longer and the one under was also a little longer.  maybe only by an inch)  but if you look at my leaf springs you can see where the main leaf is starting to bend just a lil cuz of that shorter add a leaf we put in.  never really worried me  but i figured  for 20 bucks  why not put a set of 3/4 ton springs in the back.  just wanted to make sure i wasnt going to run into any issues with putting these in.   just a direct bolt in right?

It'll bolt right up. And $20 is a good deal to boot!
