i want to put the plastic one on my truck, ould it fit on an 03 gmc with a 6 inch lift?
ill only be doing my driveway and a few others, i dot want a steel becease i think there to heavvy for a half ton imo
would it do ok?
yes drop the chain down more and your plow will cut the snow at a little less angle un less you put a drop mount on the bottom of truck
i got a 2500 hd with 5 - 5 1/2 inch lift dd with plow
will a plastic plow be ok or should i just get a steel one?
The plastic plow dont have enough weight. They dont cut down into the packed snow
get the ploy one there yellow not clear those are not as heavy as steel but not as light as the clear ones one of my buddys have a western steel blade on his 03 1/2 ton just turned the t-bars all the way up set at stock with blade up but wander all over with blade off and t-bars up so it is a win lose deal
just remember you adjust them up it pressure on the steering and ball joints if not realiged if your not dd raise it and count your turns so you can put it back in the spring
me and my cousin can make u a custom mount to make up for the difference in height for a fair price
Have a Meyer unimount unit at work, I like the attatchment features where you can remove just the blade or the entire assy.
I was told that the plastic blade is heavier (75lbs) than a steel blade (by Mfg.)
had the unit on my truck (heavy 1/2t Chevy 01') turned the torsion bars up 1/2 turn.
when I bought that truck we transferred the entire unit to an 04' 3/4t Duramax, no adjustments nessasary.
Respectable plow system, controls are ok.
Generally.. they operate best when level to the ground (that's the way they are designed)
you can install them on a lifted truck and with some practice.. get used to it.. and make it work for what you want.. you may find some additional wear to the cutting edge, springs and pivot bolt, you may also find that your anchor pins wear a little faster. And you may have to cough up a couple of bucks for repairs (to your customers property) until you get "Used to it"
Just my .02
yeah i think it would do good cuz i know a guy who has who has a plow on his half ton with a 6 inch lift. but his plow is steel
