Title: 87 chevy pickup question
Post by: Jeb on January 15, 2009, 02:29:43 PM
I am looking at a 87 pickup it has the 4 speed tranny with creeper gear was wondering if it would have a 350 in it or a 6 cylinder my buddy told me those only came on the 6 cylinders but i didnt think so. So my question is did they come on the v8 also.

Yes I had a 86'  with a creeper gear. One thing we have to remember the truck is more then 20 years old. During all that time it could have been modified by whatever parts the previous owners had laying around.

Ive had a 1986 4x4 chevy 1/2 ton with 4.3L V6 and 3 speed w/ creeper,  and also had a 1986 4x4 GMC 3/4 ton with 5.7L V8 and 3 speed with creeper gear.  My guess is that they came with V6 and V8.

In the 80's you order a Sm465 with any motor GM offered in its light truck line.

my brother had a 1 owner 86 chevy 1/2 ton, came with 3spd on Column and V6...........he swapped them both out for a SM465 and 292 straight 6.
