I put a Detroit in my old truck, it had  a 14 BoltFF rear, If I remember right , (it was about 12 years ago), After you remove the carrier from rear end,  the ring gear comes off the carrier, the carrier is bolted together, you split that apart, drop in the Detroit and reassemble, the Detroit comes bolted together or (loaded under spring pressure), after carrier is put back together remove bolt holding locker together. I drove mine on the street and had no troubles with it, it would unlock at times around corners, very heavy duty.  What size tires are you gonna run? When I bought mine from Reider Racing in Taylor MI, they told me you shouldnt go above 38"s with the tru-trac, not as HD as Locker.I went with an Auburn Posi in front.  I believe the Detroit is in the $450 range now, not sure though.  In my new bogger I just put a spool in the rear end, $150 off E bay, not very street friendly though, depends on what your gonna do with the truck I guess.
