I have a buddy that has a 96 chevy and he wants to buy some 10 bolt axle shafts off me from my 88. Is the spline the same on both trucks, he knows his is 30 spline?
if his is a 10 bolt then yes they will work. whos looking to pick thos up?
jt is but he said that our body style came with a 28 spline or 30 spline
for some reason i was thinkin his truck was a 98. but i think the 28 spline was the older 10 bolt axles. 87 and back anyone correct me if im wrong on that tho. 7387chevynut would probably be the one to ask on that cuz i believe he is the one doing a write up on here about the axles, trans, t cases etc
alright thanks
his truck is either a 96 or 97 cant remember
His is going to be an IFS and yours should have a straight axle? My 88 suburban has a 10bolt straight axle.

he is talking about rear axle not front axle. but both trucks are ifs. 88 was the first year for that
Hi Guys,
I have read that in 1988.........GM made all its new C/K trucks rear 10 bolt axles 30 spline...........and that also includes 88-91 k5 blazers & suburbans
1982-87 rear 10 bolts came in 28 spline, and 30 spline.
I had a 1984 1/2 ton chevy 4x4.......and swapped out my 10 bolt rear shafts........found out it had 28 spline shafts...........and I swapped in 30 spline.........but had to get 30 spline spider gears for it as well.
Also..............ALL 1988-91 Suburbans & K5 blazers have (Straight Axle front ends).
1992.......is when GM switched body styles for K5 & suburban.......and those came with IFS front ends.
