i have 10 bolt axles on my 98 ext. with a SAS that have 3.42 gears in them right now, how low of a gear can i go without changing my carrier, i thought i was told before that u could go all the way to a 4.56 but cant remember
any help is appreciated, thanks
you can go all the way to 4.56
i think thats all you can do in a 10 bolt
i got 513s in my 79 10 bolt. i had to get a different carrier
thats what i was thinkin, but thought i would check
thanks
I've got 4:56's in my 10 bolt front but it started out with 4:10's which I've still got if your interested ;)

if u go with a 4.56 gear for a 10 bolt front dont you have to get a thick cut gear for that ratio? only reason i ask is the detroit tru trac taht i picked up iw as told i can run the 4.10 on without a problem but if i stepped up to a 4.56 i would need a thick cut gear for that
on a 10 bolt its 4.10 and up so if you got a 4.10 carrier your good for 4.56
oh ok ill have to pm orangecrush again because he is the one that originally had this tru trac and he told me i would need to run a thick 4.56 gear if i stepped up that from a 4.10
