Ring of death? It's done. My sons went to p00 Christmas night. He got 5 new games and couldn't play them so I bought him a new one with an extended warrenty from Game Stop. I got $80 credit for the old one. This happens alot with older units. The newer ones they say are better, I guess they fixed the problem the older ones were having.

Some have confused General Hardware Failure with a similar looking error warning where four red lights appear, in which case the console does not detect an AV cable is plugged in. The four lights can sometimes also be seen when power surges or very brief power outages occur while the console is running, in which the console needs to be unplugged and plugged back in again to reset the error.

The RROD is 3 lights it does not make a complete ring. 3 red lights is bad 4 is good (Complete RING)...just need to reset something.

not recommended but wrap it in a blanket and let it run itl overheat and shut off which resets itself it worked for mine but prolly not the best choice

on the original ones they put the processor too close to the power supply and it melts the solder on a couple connections.   One of my friends actually did the overheat thing but it ended up going bad again like a week later.  Your choice......im not saying yes or no on that.

Send it in to get fixed  but by that time the money you spend in shipping and repair costs you might be better off finding another used one at one of the game stores or cheap used by someone else.

haha look on craigs list.. there is a lot of people/shops that can fix it for like 20 bucks.. I have a modded 360 and so does my friend, when he RROD he took it to some dude and its worked perfectly ever sence.. some time its just as simple as the soder from the mother board to the video card gets too hot and melts.

OK first off nothing inside there gets hot enough to melt any solider. What it is is theres not enough space under the X clamps that hold on the CPU and GPU so the heat dont dissipate. What you can do is take it all apart and get some washers to replace the X clamps off the mobo. I would also recommend going to llamas website and getting a better quieter fan. Very easy to install. I you need to know how to get the case off the 360 look on you tube. Your first time taking it apart is a PITA but after you do it once it comes apart real easy.

llama can explain it better than I can

Another thing is GONT LEAVE IT ON ALL THE TIME.  Thats is what kills them.  Also get the extrenal cooling fan set up. It helps alot if its in a enclosed space or sitting on carpet or any thign that does not let it get cool air to it

I have mine sitting up right on a desk all by its self and i never leave it running if I am not playing with it.

the problem was that for microsoft to fit a dvd drive in the xbox they had to make the gpu heat seank smaller ALOT smaller so yeah its a design flaw and the repair kit is already in it and its still broken anyone wanna buy it ill take $60 for the councle and the wires thats the going rate for a rrod xbox on ebay
