Ok I was having a problem with my 700r4 not shifting at all except at high rpms. I put a new governor tv cable filter gasket and new fluid. It shifts amazingly now but wont go into 4th. Im thinking I need to tv cable a little more but not really sure. any ideas would be great. Thanks shawn.
Wont go into 4th at all? Or wont go into 4th at full throttle? Because unless it come out of a vette you need a special sleeve that allows full throttle 3-4 up shifts on a 700r4. And unless the rest of your tranny is built, clutch packs, corvette servo, ect ect you dont want full throttle 3-4 up shifts or you will smoke it real fast.
Im not sure if itll go into it cause I havent really gottin it past 45 yet cause roads were bad but but it wasnt shifting into it when i was cruising. Its the original trans for my truck. But it was rebuilt 30,000 ago.
Our Bravada 4l80e trans does not shift into 4th until 50mph and then it's so smooth you can barely tell. My Transam 700r4 shifts into 4th between 40 and 45 but thats another story it has vette servo, shift kit yada yada. If your first 3 gears shift smooth I would think your TV cable is adjusted properly and I would take it on the hwy and run it up to 70 and see what speed 4th comes in at. If you reach 70 and have no 4th gear you have a problem for sure. Then depending on what year the vehical is I would have a trans shop scan for codes as it may be something simple like a bad sensor. Autozone scanners cannot scan for transmission codes you need to have a transmission shop do it.
