so i have a hydro locked 4.0 im trying to remove without having to remove the trans in the process. well i realized when i was trying to take the engine off the trans that you cant spin the flywheel to remove the flywheel bolts that connect the trans and engine. is there a way to solve this problem or am i gonna have to remove the trans and tear down the engine to separate the two
is it an auto or a manual I'm assuming auto just pull the engine with the torque converter atatched then worry about getting them seperated after the motor is out. ==2cents
yah its an auto. the converter will come out with it?
take the heads off...pull the plugs out........either one should free it up

only if there's something like water or oil in the cylenders if it's actually siezed due to something broken than it won't help.

Yes the TQ (torque converter) slides in the tranny, just be sure to change the seal when you reinstall it. Also try to pull it strait out so you don't hurt the pump bushing, lower the back of the tranny if you have to to keep it strait.
ok well im gonna try and drop the oil pan and see what the damage looks like. i think the #6 rod is broke in the lower half.
ok well i drained and droped the oil pan yesterday.and it freed the engine right up by just draining the oil.the #6 rod is broke off and twisted. and the #4 has some slap in it. the main bearing are shot and it also spun a rod bearing. ill get some pics up when i get the engine out.
getting the fly wheel bolts out were fun because with the rod broke and the bearings spun it didnt wanna spin all the way i love me some thin neck long shank wrenchs applaudd applaudd ;D
