Title: tow strap vs recovery strap

are the manufacuers libile to name this stuff wright i saw a 4"X30" tow strap with loop end rated for 20,000# at north woods on sunday, this after noon i saw a identical strap near as i can tell at harbor frate that said recovery strap and was rated at like 7 tons. i thout that recover straps wher supost to be stronger or are thay rated difernt  ==shrug

yes there is a difference between a recovery strap and a tow strap. A 4" recovery strap is usually rated about 40,000 pounds give or take a little depending on the brand and just so you know 7 tons is only 14,000 pounds.

a recovery strap is designed to stretch when under a heavy load a tow strap isn't.

If your looking for a strap go to TSC and get one of there's, they are a probobly a little more money than the ones you were looking at but can you really put a price on someones life ???  ==2cents

i know that i should git my straps from some wear beter but i just thout it was strange, and yes 1400# is what i ment by 7 tons thats why i made the post ccaus i figuerd that a recovery strap shold be stronger than a tow strap
