Yep, wifey wanted a toy (besides me) to play with in the mud..

86' Jeep CJ7
no motor
350/205
D30 front w/locker
9" Ford rear welded
36" tractor V treads on the rear
Swampers on the front
To date:
Front axle has been completly rebuilt
305 .030 over motor is in
wiring for fans, fuel pump is done
replaced windshield frame for one that has a windshield in it.
have a hard top for it, need doors
Still needs:
Trans pan changed
oil change on Tcase
rear axle rebuilt
fuel cell removed and original style tank installed
wire the starting/ignition system
seats need to be relocated so she can reach the pedals
seat belts are inop. seized.. gotta fix that.
trans tunnel pan - fab and install
wire the headlights
install the hard top (with sunroof !! )
L front hub still needs to be installed
grease EVERYTHING !!
Power steering hoses/pump install (gotta make brackets)
ah crap.. I can't have this much to do.. ==doh
new brake lines for the front
wiper motor (need one.. if ya got one for sale post up please)
rear seat (need one of them too)
GotMud? sticker for the back window
oh.. and last but not least..
it needs a NAME woman !!!!!!!!
sounds like fun!
get r done !
2 issues I'm tryin to work around:
1. 305 GM motor, R side water pump pickup, and L side radiator lower..
so far Ive taken 2 radiator hoses and cut them apart, installed one on the water pump
and 1 end on the radiator, I now have to connect them right below the vibration dampener..
exhaust pipe?? or PVC pipe?? It needs to be a 90 degree bend..
concern: if I insert a piece of bent pipe I will restrict coolant flow.. radiator is small enough as it is.. any suggestions?
2. Lower coolant hose will interfere with the PS pump.. I can just make some new mounting brackets and raise the pump.. but should I use a Jeep pump, or will a standard GM pump work..
concern: pressure hose from the pump to the gear box.. are they compatible or will I have to install a reducer on the back of the pump to get the line to fit properly??
Any good radiator shop can cut and switch the inlet ond output. I had one done last year in lansing for $50.
Should be able to use the GM pump.
wheres the pics?
I wanna see sum pics, sounds like COOL MUD TOY!!
name her Slippery when wet or wet and slippery and a pic or two would be nice

Yep, she breathed fire tonight..
worked on it most of the day, wired ignition and start all thru an oh sh** switch, pull the plug and ALL the electrical shuts down.
put a Holley on it.. motor did'nt want anything to do with it so I shot up town and got a brand new Edlebrock 600 cfm..
some other "needed" things.. rerouted the fuel thru the manual pump (guy that built it had the elec. fuel pump under the hood {pusher type})
I'll fix that later..
primed the motor (oil) with an old dist shaft and a drill (motor has'nt been fired since I bought it 5 yrs ago, I've never heard it run)
wired it up, had an issue with being off a tooth.. figured it out in a minute or so..
filled a beer bottle with gas (40 oz) dropped the fuel line in it (really, what else do you think I was gonna use) beerr
had the wifey hit the switch and ==wtf and next thing ya know ==rant ==oops Pi**ed Off neighbors ==tka ;D
Runs GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRREEAT, strong and smooth.. tranny, rear end, L hub, fuel tank, seat belts, top amoung others yet to do..
Got the fuel cell flushed
installed brake booster and (bad) master cyl. - has power brakes now..
still need to install a new master cyl.
drivers side 5 point harness almost in
hmmmmm.. mounds!?!?

Well the Moonlight Stompers had their annual "Truck Wars" again this weekend.. attendance was down but a great time was had by all.. 3 day event filled with wheelin and drivin skills.
Camped the whole weekend.. wheeled the snot outta the Jeep..
Spent a couple of nights around the campfire with some beers and friends.
We had:
side by side drag race
barrell race (just like the horses do)
blind race (drivers blindfolded, passanger navigates a course thru the woods) gives some insight on how well you and your wife communicate (P.S. great job dear, we took 1st)
broke for lunch and the kids games: sack race, 3 legged race, musical chairs, tug o war, pina'ta, dizzy race and a watermelon eating contest.
after lunch:
tow rig/trailer race (use your tow rig, have to back up and hook a trailer, then figure 8 around a couple of tires "Backwards")
Chinese fire drill
Best rooster tail
then we opened the pit.. and a small hole in the swamp.. we wheeled well past dark and into the night (Awesome time)
Sunday: everyone up an movin kinda slow, but I opened the pit at the strike of noon and we were off and wheelin again.. wheeled till dark before we broke camp..
I pulled in the drive at 11pm last night.
Carnage:
Ed - front axle (hope your motors ok too)
Dan - Axle shaft
Phil - trans pan
Richard - motor mount
Burgers - starting issues all weekend
Awards:
Dan - 1st place trophy
Ed - 2nd place plaque
Welchy - 3rd place plaque
Kids: got 1st, 2nd, 3rd place ribbons for each game, and a big bag of toys.
Thanks to all the Moonlight Stompers that attended and helped out.. was a great weekend.
Special Thanks to Joe for the use of the property and Bruce for the water truck.
Pix up as soon as my body quits hurtin and I can get them downloaded.

Wow, been sittin on the trailer that long??? ..... well.. since Tday..
off the trailer and cleaned up, kids were playin in it, gave me a chance to look at the steering/suspension..
Definately time for some TLC..
new bushings, hardware, neighbor made some xtra thick shackles (gotta weld um up yet)
steering arm is next..
still gotta pull the tranny and do the pump seal (don't want no fires w/the kids)
Back window fell out on the way home from Tday... made it all the way home, survived the winter layin on top of the fuel cell
backed it off the trailer and.. well..
so.. now have a nice expanded metal window that I'll bolt on, had to hammer weld 3 small peices together to make it..
turned out pretty nice..
shorty headers
new limiter chains for the front suspension (straps wore out)
Then I can get started on the stuff that needs to get done.. ;D
Got it all done, still need a couple of small things done.. trans dipstick, shifter cable and some straight pipe for the exhaust
and it's ready to wheel...
now I should get the wipers workin, build a set of bars for the rear, pinion style brake for the rear at the t-case (no rear brakes sucks when hill climbin) get the fuel cell outta the cab (I hate that) and one of these days I'm gonna loose that rusted out body
read somewhere about a conversion for a D30 front,,
cutting the tubes and installing D44 knuckles and shafts but I'll be damned if I can find the article..
I have an old D30 WT and a D44 but somethings amiss with the shafts.. some reason or another I don't think
44 shafts will fit a 30 carrier ==hmmm
I want to retain the D30 width, got a locker in it too.. so swappin the 30 for the full 44 is out.
i have a bunch of jeep parts email with what u need or come look at them and see what i have i know i have a solid steel body aonly a couple spots of rust a good hood and core support plus lots of interior stuff
Nice Jeep
I gotta come bogg with you guys again!!! jeep looks good but would look better with a yellow cj5 body lol
2 bogs in 2 weekends, fixed the steering shaft in between..
quit hard on me once yesterday (at about 3500 R's just stopped).. thought I hurt it, let it cool down
for an hour or so.. fired right back up and lapped the pit pinned the whole time..
==hmmm nnnope.. think we're good
had to make a cable adjustment on the shifter so I can hold 1st gear.. now I got no park, but I got everything else I need!! ==djdj
looked good saterday! had fun till the blazer blew up!

Well.. had 5 good bogs on it last year.. never broke anything serious.. had a blast..
so.. got invited to snow bog a couple of weeks ago so I fired her up n' brought her up to the garage..
found that the L rear freeze plug was missing... uh oh! ==doh
I drained it before I parked it.. put a marine plug in, topped it off w/ antifreeze, warmed her up and thought all was good..
gettin ready to load her on the trailer an drip.. drip.. drip.... R side of the motor between #2 & 4 below the head gasket... ==doh ==doh
SON OF A B.................... FYI.. did you know that the 3/8" nipple plugs at the back of a 350 motor will drain the block completely ??? I do.....now!
not leakin bad, but leakin anyway.... hmmmmm...... 350 in the garage... hehehe 454 too!!!
Looks like you and the kids had a blast...one question, I thought this was your wife's jeep..how come only you drive it? I need to know your secret so i can work out this deal ==lol

She gives me crap about that all the time.. but I'm seriously afraid she'd hurt herself w/it..
Strong arm steering.. she's only 5'4" 110lb redhead..steering wheel would eat her, I'm 6'4" 210lb and I gotta hang on to it good and know when to let go..
So.. I had to drop $3k on another one for her http://wegotmud.com/forum/index.php?topic=55130.0 (http://wegotmud.com/forum/index.php?topic=55130.0) ==doh

I'd check the pics on the first page, that tub is pretty much wasted
Just made a deal w/ a neighbor on a newer tub (YJ).. should be happenin later this year...
but yea.. that white tub is spent, not much holdin it together...
caging the inside this year as part of the rebuild, soft doors only.. an no! top is not for sale.
