How many of us in here have Kill Switches in our rigs ?
just wondering. im glad i had one in my rig ! donnie was able to shut mine down. i was under the hood.
big thanks donnie
I need to put one in my rig....
Be nice to have for safety reasons and for when i store it i wont have to disconnect the bat...
yep got 1 toggle and one master disconnect!
Donnie and I were talking sunday about this. We think we all should have one and everyone should know where they are in each rig. so if something happens we/anyone can kill the rig fast. I have one in my tracker put not in the jeep. I do have a toggle that shuts the gas off in the jeep but its not instant takes a few seconds to shut down.
yup..ignition and electric fuel pump shut off with one big red button!

Same here. One big red button.
key'd main power..
ignition kill
fuel pump kill
I like to use a seperate button to shut everything off, because if you turm the key off, at least in my truck the column still locks, so youll lose your steering too.
my hole trucks run on toggles flip it off and the truck dyes now no need for one on the fuel pump its mechanical also have my fire extingusher right at my left foot on the rocker easy for any one to get at as long as door is open
i've got a master kill switch first then power switches for everything else after the main power

i have switches for ignition, fuel pump and my fans. I have 2 main battery disconnects that kills everything at the same time. i have one in the truck and one on the outside of the truck just incase something happens to me someone on the outside can shut the truck down.
i don't have one yet but i do want one i think it is a good ideal all off road vehicel sould have one
yup
where do you guys put them ??? I want it out side the truck excessable but out of the way of mud and water.
NOTHING ON THE PICK UP STILL USE THE KEY ITS A TURN KEY BOGGER THE JEEP WILL HAVE THEM
My Jeep has a Toggle switch for the Fuel pump and ingnion on. Key is there to start it.
But one I get my 700R4 in it I will run the furl pump on its owe switch and the Ingnion on its own as well.
toggle fuel pump, keyed ignition.
Ive got a Flaming River cut-off switch in the inner passenger side fender that goes to the starter and my ignition switch. On my shifter Ive got a toggle to my electric fan and the distributor. The key in the ignition is still needed because it runs my turn signals, windshield wipers and unlocks my steering wheel. Ive got 5 seperate toggles for 8 aux lights.
i think everyone should have a main shut off on the rear of the bogger somewhere. out of the way of mud and water and what not but easily accesible in case the driver is knocked out and no one can get into the truck to hit the toggles.
no i didnt, but after the trucks all fixed its going to have a main shut off, on the drivers seat by the floor

I agree, on the back bumper is the most universal place i've seen painted a bright color.....
im trying to wire up a push button ignition in my 76 ford but im not sure how to do it, people have told me so many different things but nobody can tell me one certain way, can any help?
the small wire that gose to you cycloined, your putton goes in that. cut in half and run one wire in and one back out.

my Jeep is set up w/ chevy stuff, but you can use the same theory..
batt + to a master switch/solenoid
2 small wire + from the master switch to a circuit breaker or inline fuse. 1 to a kill switch and 1 to pushbutton..
from the kill switch to the coil
from the pushbutton to the start solenoid
its real easy to do and not complicated..
you will need..
heavy guage wire (batt to master switch to starter) #4 weld wire will work fine
small guage wire (master switch to start button and ign. switch)
master switch - needs to be able to handle some amperage
ign. switch - the red racing type switch (kill switch)
push button switch
various eyelet electrical connectors
2 in line fuses or circuit breakers
bout' 2 hours time to put it all together.
master disconnect
Just starting on building my rig, but since i got it without an ignition key anyway and pulled the cylinder out, i planned on push button start and master kill switches inside and out.
yup.. main kill
fuel pump
ignition all toggled!
same her this way i dont have to worry about theft
yep ignition and fuel pump on switch power disconnect between seats
ignition kill and a cigarette lighter for a starter switch. want to put a main kill on it soon
One on the dash... and one on the a$$...
They're cheap, easy, and silly not to have one IMO
(http://mudhunter.com/images/mh5082.jpg)
always nice to have kill switch especially if it has chance of wheels going over the top and the roof being bottom
Im working on a dash touch screen for my rig that will have a touch toggle for every system in my truck. It will also have regular toggles off the bottom incase the screen fails. On the top it will also have a push button power and kill switch just like on construction equipment such as lifts and such. That will be mounted in te cab and then the rear of the truck will have a pull kill switch. Like said above, they are so easy to make and almost a must.
Everyone needs a smart button somewhere and a proper FIRE Extinguisher ......

i know everyone thinks never happen to me but sooner or later it could so be prepared ==wgm
i have key and switches on ign and fuel. if you dont have one try and wait until its to late . im glad dave built his truck right when i went through the window the truck was trying to eat him . his switches worked great killed the truck not him. AND HIS TRUCK WAS IN PARK
thanks again donny. i will not have a truck with out a kill switch in it.
smart button ;D good one lonie
got one on the steering wheel ++peace
i have a big red button in the cab, shuts off the fuel and ignition. and i have a flaming river switch to kill everything on the back of the truck
im gunna put one behind the cab on my truck so i dont have to run a cable all the way back ???? and what about a break away switch like on a jet ski on the fuel pump at the rear ??? what you guys think?????
so when you fly out you can have it shut off, J/K hahahaha
got on on my chevelle but not my truck
what about the ones the monster truck guys use like a rii
The RII is kind of an expensive setup, so that might not be the best option for everyone, but they do work good! I have a master kill switch on my center console that kills the fuel pump and power to the motor, but then I also have toggle switches for the water pump/ fan and nitrous. IMO, everyone should consider having something like this in their vehicles. Accidents dont happen all the time, but when they do its nice to know you have saftey equipment like this.
I have a pull handle ran right beside my right knee BIG N RED say kill on it runs to the battery ive used in my yard last winter when it rolled works great n good piece of mind that its right there if the worse happens
I was leaving work on the maden voyage of one of my trucks 454 swap and when i hammered it the peddle stuck to the floor. After that everything that's got some ball's gets a "O SH*T" switch. Learned the hard way on that one. BTW the truck was fine but my Short's were history.
