Please treat this section like autozone. You all know that when you go into autozone to get a headlight, they ask you the make, the model, the year, and the engine size, just to help you find the right headlight. Well look at the Garage/Tech help section the same way. Because you will get most out of your question with more info about your car or truck.
Good point, a lot of people put very lil info about their vehicle and expect pin point answers.....
Good luck! I work at autovalue and you would be suprised how many people call and want brakes for their car and decide 5min into it they will find out what year and kind of car they own and call back. Lmfao
i see what your talking about joe.
lots of help post, people think everyone know what everyone has for a truck or car.
that just mite help 390joe. good luck on getting everyone to follow it ;D

im lost at ==wtf this topic is about ==dn ==idk confusedd
trent. alot of people will ask a question about there car or truck, and will give very little info, and then everybody will start throwing out a fix for the wrong problem.
i manage a repair facility..... and this really happens tooooo often
me: thank you for calling how may i help you?
stoopid: can you give me a price on brakes for my car?
me: sure, what are you driving and what do you need?
stoopid: a car and i need brakes
me: bring it in its a free inspection and a free estimate
stoopid: soooo you wont give me a price?
me: sure what are you driving and what do you need? but i would really rather
inspect it so we can give you an acurate price
stoopid: a car and i said i needed brakes
me: what kind of car?
stoopid: i dunno its red
the conversations either go down hill from here depending on there attitude or i finally talk them
into coming in
good luck go joe don't hurt to try
what gets me is when you go in for a part and you give them the part number. lets say a part for a Holley carb or a 9'' rearend and they ask for year make and model. without that they are lost. a lot of them have no mechanical experience what so ever and have no clue what you are talking about unless they can look it up on their PC
I love going to Autozone or Advanced and giving them a part number and saying I want that part. They usually look at me funny and ask me what kind of car it is. I repeat the part number and it usually takes them a minute to just get the dam part instead of going to the computer and looking it up my year, make, and model. LOL

i love going in autozone and when they ask me what kind of vehicle .
i said: 87 suzuki samurai
they ask: what type of motor?
i said: v-8 350 4 barrel
they actually look at their computer to find the listing of a v-8 samurai
I laughed at them
most of the time they want accuate info and i had to make something up like telling them it a 85 chev 4x4 half ton but i dont e ven own it but thats how i get my parts for my samurai
keep in mind my samurai contain
gm motor and transmission
jeep transfercase
toyota axle
jeep u joint on one end of drivewshaft then toyota u joint at the other end of driveshaft
body and steering is samurai
front leafspring the main leaf is a jeep but the rest of the pack is a half ton leafs
too many to list wish autozone has a special custom listing for individual customer
Lmfao i kno what u guys are sayin. I work with a couple ppl like that hahaha. They look at me funny when i look out the window n tell ppl what axle they got. Whats realy scary is the guys working at repair shops that call and cant tell what there working on.

I do have to give the place i work credit we have 9 employee's
one is a engine builder
one is a ex-engine builder that now builds mud trucks and plays with military stuff
one is majorly into military stuff & paint work.
6 of us have mechanical experience worth mentioning.
and one worked in a repair shop before coming to autovalue.
& then u got me.. which i dont know if thats good or bad... ==roll
only have 3 computer dependent people & they will ask around before asking too many stupid questions. & they usually all dont work on the same days.

I know 3 off that list!!! lol
yea i hate that...why cant they just give you the part u need...lol if you ask for a carb for a 305 you dont need to kno the frikken year..it pisses me off whn i have to explain somthing to a guy at a parts store...i usually get my parts from d&d in corruna...they kno what they are talking about!
this thread is not about what it takes to get a part at autozone. i just used autozone as an example as to give all the info about your vehicle when you ask a question for tech help, so that you can get better help from the the people that read your post. so please keep all comments topic realated.
thank you
When it comes to "custom built" they don't have a clue. I've got samurai, tracker, and jeep parts. It always throws them off.
