well, the build up of the diesel is going to start soon now, just got some dtt tranny parts in today so im starting with the trans, then the motor and suspension. going to need some parts so i thought id post up here to keep a current list of items needed and ideas where to get them.
its a 96 reg cab dodge cummins 4x4, goal by the summer will be dtt trans, 500 hp with a TRIPLE turbo setup for great street manners, 3" body lift, 3" suspension lift ( because this is going to be a plow truck) that will still be working. the pump will be a custom tuned 180 pump with 4k springs. and id like to run 33" swampers or nittos.
so, heres the parts im gonna need and where i think ill be getting em, but feel free to steer me in a better direction (cheaper is better lol)
2 stock dodge turbos
water meth kit ( net )
3" coil spacers ($75 on ebay)
3" blocks for the rear (free at home)
3" body lift (free at home)
hiem joints for steering and track bar, and sway bar links ( mail order 3/4x3/4 )
tires and wheels, prob on here lol
the hardest part is going to be fabbing up the triples and keeping the 2nd battery for the auto to start. going with triples because of spool up and the "cool" factor, and way cheaper than a set of twins. going to keep em under 45psi until i can swing for some o-rings. should be starting the build up next week with the body lift and the trans valve body, got a custom tune dtt kit for it. then its getting a converter with taxes and thats when ill swing for some custom injectors and the turbos. ill keep pics up of the build up, but its gonna take a while. just lookin for a little input as i go and before i start. what would any of you do different? its going to be a dune hopper/work truck so no 12" of lift and 1000hp. i just want a fun driving truck that wont be fogging out city blocks.
matt
sweet take pics GotMud?
the only thing I would really do different is 3" lift coils instead of the spacers. ( had bad luck with coil spacers in the past ) and if you are plowing you are going to want your suspension solid and reliable up front. Otherwise sounds pretty cool! I like budget builds. ==2cents
i cant wait to go for a ride with ya! gonna be sweet!!
yeah, im considering going with bags in the front instead of spacers if i can fund it. ill have a 9,2"boss poly with wings, well over 1000#'s on the front. and the bags would ride decent.

oh, you know were gonna find a old set of stocker tires and go do some fun burnouts!! you should have known that i couldnt let your truck beat mine for too long lol. time to wake this bus up.
sounds like it will be a fun yet challaging project take pics to keep us updated
get a goerands tripple disk converter well worth the money and the one i got has a lifetime warrenty. i also got a hardened input shaft from them to. what are you going to use for your turbos 2 stock turbos over a larger one or what. im planning on twins hx35 over ht3b or hx60 or s400. something of that nature. should be fun i love these cummins
im going with a dtt converter i think, thats where the rest of the trans stuff is coming from, gorend makes good stuff, just a little over priced. as for turbos, im using 3 stock turbo, 2 35-12's over the stock 35-12 for the triple setup. 2 hx35's will flow about the same as a ht3b, but will light about 800-1000 rpms earlier, thus the reason im going with them, and the tune ability plays a huge factor in it. instead of the one huge wheel in the 60 spinning im dividing it into two smaller more efficient turbos and all 3 are gated so tuning is easier. second reason is nobody has em, and ill have true dual exhaust on my straight 6 lol! im basically needing 1 more stocker and i can start mocking them up. i gave 3 away this year for free, and even got stiffed on $25 shipping to a guy that was in a bind that said he'd pay me back.

loll cant wait! maybe we should twin-turbo my truck!
i told you 4 years ago that it should have been done!!!! get the turbos!!!!
this thread is worthless without pics lol, i love a nice cummins build
ok, ok, ok, heres what this whole thing is gonna look like when finished, not mine, but what im putting togather, just a little teaser for all of ya, still scrounging turbos up at this point.
still trying to get the cash around for the converter too, once thats done, then the power is coming!! got a welder to use, getting a portable bandsaw and then the fabbing starts.
and i think i got a hook up on bags, so i might ditch the body lift idea if that pulls through.
that is gonna be sexy
sweet set up matt..what will it take to get you to help me make a set up like this for the 24v
a few turbos lol! those pics are actually on a 24v truck with just a box and some 90hp sticks. spooling starts hard at 1400 and egt's avg about 600* wot loaded will hit 1100* your stock exh housings might be a tad too tight to really make big nimbers out of it, but it would spool faster than you could watch your boost gauge. the turbos im using are stockers with 12cm ex housings. the ones in the pics are hybrid 35/40's. i think 3 brand new turbos all hybrids would be in the area of $1,000. you could use your stock top charger but you might have to get a external gate. i say lets do it ==np and hey, if you know anybody that has a junk stocker turbo layin around, let me know, id like to get a few trashed ones for mocking up.
i go threw charlotte on my way home from college and my have to stop by and see this when its all done and get some pics for a friend, because he is wanting to run twins and i explained to him what you are doing and that got his interest.

sweet set up matt..what will it take to get you to help me make a set up like this for the 24v
oh, and lots of beer lol!!!
twins are cool, dont get me wrong, but three is always better than 2 lol! yeah, im gonna keep the buildup updated on here, and feel free to take a look when its finished. the only thing holding me back is this damn money crap, cant seem to find enough of it... i think right after tax time the ball should pick up steam.
yah lol, i tried pulling money out of my ass for a 383 and sas and it didnt work lol
i can get the beer..but if squirell nuts is helping no beer for him..i dont have that much money..hahaha..and i saw some turbos posted somewhere cheap
hey, we drink natty light, its cheap!! im going to try and build some piping and have kits around in a few weeks. i can get brand new emussa chargers for $300 ea, so for stockers i wouldnt give over $175 for em just for some fyi.
==kp
well, little forward motion in the buildup, going to get the converter today and the valve body and converter should be in tonight ++peace it will also be getting some more fuel as soon as thats all complete.
well, after a long fight with the trans last night, and a very messy one at that, the converter is in with the valve body. today the front driveshaft goes back in and the fuel gets poured to it. drives 1000% better now. going to try and build a better track bar today too. could use a set of coils to use for templates to make some spacers if anybody has a set laying around, id shell out some beer just to borrow them for a day or two.
matt
do anything with the turbos yet?
this truck hauls the mail with the torque convertor, fuel plate and dtt kit. Thats all hes done so far. This truck used to get beat by school busses. Now we can race etran (community shuttle) buses without a problem. lol.
Its fast for a pretty stock dizzle.

some day i will make the same power as a 5.3l chevy, but till then, my other ride will have to do.... tell the ol lady i said sorry she has to fill in till then..
no, nothin with the turbos yet, cant find 2 more stockers yet, everybody thinks there worth $500 lol!!!!! its comin along, next is injectors and then the lift soon.
a buddy of mine has a stock one for sale, i will text him tomorrow. and keep your eyes open for a 94+ auto 12 valve, i am wanting to trade my truck for one something bad
he is asking 250 for it i'll pm you his number if your interested
so i fiddled around with the governor and got the washers to work a little better, fuels to 28-2900 now, not quite as good as a true 3k kit, but for .75 cents its not bad, will be upgrading to some 6k rpm springs soon so get some better fueling and power curve. looking into either schieds 60# springs, or a set of custom hamiltons with ti keepers. hopefully fabbing a set of coil spacers till i can get the bags around to do it right. this no money stuff blows!!
well, makin some headway finally, got the front body lift in today, much to my suprise, dodge uses different size bolts for the box and the cab. so i gotta get new bolts tomorrow. then im going to try and get a set of 3" spacers and blocks in it by tomorrow afternoon. and a fancy new custom bumper will be on the front of it next week too. did some fueling mods to her along with the new tranny parts and its working great. should have her muddy this weekend. oh, thanks for the boggers again shawn!
lookin good!! how long till the 2.5 tons will be on there? loll
damn!!!
DAMN!!! Im Glad them Boggers went to a GOOD Home!!!! They Look BADASS!!! I love the sound of a sick Cummins!!!
==roxs ==roxs ==heehee dodgee dodgeegal dodgee ==roxs

Anytime man! If ya wanna head out this way July 16th I think we got 4H truck pulls! I wanna see you tear up the 1 ton class on them boys! I gotta talk to the guy about the classes but its $100 pay out per class..... you can even step up to the Outlaw class if ya wanna hook up to The One & Only loll
The rocks will def be a winter project lol!
I don't think my girlfriends gonna like these tires either lol, ill get a pic of the rears up soon, the rear rims clear my front 60 too. Not too sure about the pulls tho, and mines only a 3/4 ton hahaha. Not till I get some billet shafts inside my trans. I'm workin on a suprise for the ol girl for the bogg this weekend too....
well wheres the bog at this weekend joppie....en whee did you get your body lift i want one..lol
well, got her mud legs wet yesterday, did alright till i tried showing off in 2wd, once it quit moving it sank pretty fast lol! overall it did pretty good, getting about 5" more this week.
Thats 1 bad thing bout boggers, once they stop moving forward, they dig south. Still my favorite tire by far though.
Sweet Rig!!!
Lookin good Matt! ==cl
ok, a few more pics of the day then its off to start lifting some more. super excited about finding a set of rocks for this thing. and some more power, although its not really lacking id say.
You got to give your rig the nickname Ol Faithful. applaudd
yeah, thats one thing i cant come up with. a good name for the ol girl. i was thinking about blackout mudding but i just cant seem to come up with one that works, maybe ill put up a thread to find a name for it. id like to enter it into a few competitive boggs this year if all goes good. when this is done, it will turn day into night on a good run. gonna try and get it to about 5-5500 rpm's to help with wheel speed.
just cause im a pic whore today, and everyone likes diesel mud trucks lol!
thanks for the tug zach! ps, told ya we would get ya in the mud hahahaha
==cl truck, looks like a good runner
o that cummins is deff a good runner...has a mean stance to it also...i was shocked i got the damn thing out...lol..and i didnt rip my frame in two like powers did..lol..names are tough..if your going to hoodstack it call it "stacked"....i dont think mike or nick will like this one but call it the "stroker smoker"...lol

Nice project! Always loved the Cummins motors. Someday when I grow up I'm going to have a 12-valve for my bogger. loll
Either name 'er "Stroker Smoker" or "Duramax for Snax"
well, got some more done to it this week. put a set of bags up in the front, still making shock mounts and sway bar links, but it got it up about another 3", for a total of 6" under it now (blocked the back till i get the rear bag mounts made) took it back out muddin this weekend and it did great, got stuck once, then truned to being a recovery truck pulling everyone out. the bad is, hitting a rough hole the stock coil bucket on the top bent and now i have to figure out a way to straghten it. ill get pics of it up later. heres a few until then. rides excelent!! first ones with just a 3" body lift, the rest are after the bags.
ok, one more because you can see the bags lol!
wow man that thing is bad ass for sure looks real good with the 6 inches on it and them boggers just make it look even tougher sounds like its a pretty bad machine keep up the good work
you need videos of that, its badass
theres some on my facebook page that a friend put up, but i dont know how to move the vids lol! there pretty good vids of a small bogg.
sweet truck
well, the cummins mud truck is gone now. just had to sell it to get a 4dr superduty for the family ==censor did make some headway on it and got it lookin a little nicer just before i sold the damn thing. heres one last pic of the truck just before i got rid of it. ended up getting the new front i wanted, the hoodstack i wanted, and all in all, the perfect truck (except it didnt have enough doors)
http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=matt+joppie&aq=f
that sucks you had to get rid of it its a beauty how much hp and torque did you end up having? and did you get the triple turbo set up in it? i seen that in diesel power magazine i think the august 2010 issue and it looks like a pain to get it all under the hood lol but yeah definitly love diesels studying diesel mechanics now in lima
What did you end up selling it for?
i woulda loved to have this!
