I'm beginning to agree with the "invite only" boggs. People kind enough to allow fellow boggers on their land want people to come play, enjoy themselves and have a good time with their families, just like it has been for many years now.
Unfortunately, I'm hearing more and more how the massive amounts of spectators are creating issues with the continuation of "EVERYONE IS INVITED" boggs. The unexpectedly huge number of spectators and disrespectful "DRUNK SPECTATORS" are causing the invite only boggs to become more and more the norm. The over abundance of spectators use up parking areas designated for boggers, block haulers in, throw their trash around and some drink way too much, disrespect the owners and everone else especially our families. I've heard more and more about how fights are breaking out at "FAMILY BOGG EVENTS", and the hosts are not wanting to put up with it anymore. A once, COME ONE, COME ALL event is gearing up to become apart of the past because of a few inconsiderate people.
It really sucks because I am fairly new (2 yrs.) to the best and dirtiest site on the net. I do not know very many got mudders because there is so many of us. I rely on the postings to know where i can take my family and boggers to enjoy a day of fun.
I have been personnally involved in two incidents where we almost came to blows trying to get a drunk spectator to move his truck so we could load. Fortunately, both times my fellow boggers were there to out number his buddies and nothing happened.
My family (wife, 2 boys, brother and 3 girls) love to bogg, over 20 yrs. now, and fear our boggin will become less and less because invite only will grow because of a few jerk offs, but I understand completely how hosts feel. I have three boggers and just want to play and have fun. We go all over the state to play and hope that we can be one of the few that gets an invite.
i agree. i've been to wayy too many bogs where people have been drunk out of their minds, hit somebody, or started fights.. it's ridiculous. if you're going to be drunk, go to a bar, or stay home. don't let drunk people ruin bogs for everybody.
ive been to some invite only bogs that were great, because only people who were trusted enough by the host could come..
i think they should have some FAMILY FRIENDLY ALCHOHOL FREE BOGS, and have the whoever the heck wants to come and get messed up part should be limited.

i leave when i see things getting outta hand, ussally about 5-6 oclock, when I see stock trucks start hittin the pit, time for me to load my stuff up & leave
Every bog has alcohol, i choose to leave when the beer is flowing well & read about the fights the next day...
I pick & choose what bog I go to....
If its a drunkfest, I choose to stay away...
if I wanted to hang out with a bunch of DRUNKS, Id go to local bar! JMO

All great points guys and gals, I hope that I'll be part of the "Invite Only" Crowd as myself and very close friends respect the people and property of our fellow wegotmudders! Knowing that we are hauling our boggers to and from the event, we are not getting hammered and causing a rucus!
when i used to hold bogs at my house they started to get out of control, thumper & O.C can attest to that!!! i found it was generaly the people without trucks causing most of the problems, so i went to the invite only theory and i would tell people that unless the invite came from MY TWO LIPS u were not invited and i would turn trucks away sorry if u had to haul a long way or not i didnt invite u and didnt care if a friend of a friend said it was cool to come i stuck to my plan and it worked out well ==2cents

the theory that everyone will behave is what brings trouble and then people are suprised when p00 happens
if youve got more than 30 people getting together for anything there needs to be some sort of security.
a designated person or group of people to handle "situations" and escort people out. bad stuff happens, idiots
cause it to happen.
if youve got property and are gonna have a large bog, you go thru the trouble to get a tractor or wrecker there for
recovery, you prep your pit, charge admition (sorry donations), cook a pig, whatever else you do to prepare
then protect your investment! and your property designate a couple big guys to watch over things. givem bright orange shirts and point them out to people. give them the authority to remove people without roughing them up unless it comes to that.
maybe someone should assemble a bog security team and rent them out to landowners.. ;D
Our club does the "invite only" for that very reason..
we have been ridiculed for being "snobish" because of it
we have no problem if you wanna have a beer or two but..
show up to one of our events and act the fool.. We WILL remove you, by force if necessary!
I've only had to do that once in the last couple of years, (yep, damn drunk)
ALL of our club members are considered "Security"
but it's the best way to prevent "STUPIDITY IN ACTION"
i like going to mud bogs and i dont drink at all so to those who like to go get blasted and only think about themselves they should be thrown out or just banned from attending other ones bogs...too bad some have to ruin things for others. like to hang out also and watch the other trucks do there thing JMO

I do what bd does when it looks like its getting out of hand I'm outta there. I also hope I am part of the invite only people. If I had the land to hold bogs it would be invite only and no alcohol period but thats just me. hope we all can work together and have some great bogs without the hassles.

I agree totally, just because you drink doesnt mean you get rowdy. And as for me, right now Im without a bogger. Ive been tight on funds this year. I thought Id have the money this spring to pick up a turn key or good project, but unfortunately, it didnt happen for me. So if things go to invite only bogs, I wont know anyone to get an invite when I do get a bogger. As for now, I love to watch bogs and I dont want to see things go to family only or invite only, I dont want to miss out on bogs because I cant afford something to wheel.
I agree I have twin 2 year olds and a 4 year old my wife and sometimes other members of my family come to bogs with me and they also bring there kids. My kids love my bogger and love to play around at bogs I keep a very close eye on them. That is our FAMILY TIME. We have had a couple times where I feared for my kids safety because of some Stupid Fing drunks either fighting or driving there boggers around and I have left early. I think that is so stupid I like to drink as well but I dont at bogs I may have one or two but I use my head unlike those idiots. I hope this doesnt end my Family Time because of morons. I hope to get those invites as well but I only know a few of the people on here so my bogs are getting slim. JMO GotMud? ==pissed ==censor

im in the same boat. I made a couple people upset with the way i am on the computer, i dont have a bogger but i love to watch, and i will do my best to help any way i can at every bog, only been to a couple but i love it.

i dont really know anybody. never met any of u guys yet. ive been tryin to build my truck for bogs(which this site has helped me with, you guys are awesome!) but if its invite only i would more than likely not be gettin an invite. hell even i just like watchin along with a few of my freinds and my dad. i like bein able to see how people build their trucks and how they perform. im good with no alchohol. dont drink anyways. if they all go to invites id love to get some to just even spectate. idc if i run or not, its still a great time!
Ive been going to bogs for many years. The rude and crude drunks seem to always find there way to make problems. I haven't drank at a bog for many years and don't mind the people that do (alcohol makes for some good truck broke photos) but with that being said I like to have my rigs on the trailer when the crazy begins. love to bog hope to get invites also. Ok every one has made a real good point and i am afraid i will not get am invite because i have not been ale to meet any of you i started looking in to mudding as a family thing so i could have have funand show my kids that there are safe ways to have fun. I know i am VERY NEW to this site and have gotten a lot of good ideas on how i am going to build my bogger when i have the money for it but as for now my D.D. is also my bogger. I dont want anyone to think i am out there to cause trouble because I use my stock truck to have fun but i feel and live by start with stock and make it stronger as thing break. I have done that with a few of the old street cars. I know that a stock 91 bronco is nothing special and I coud only afford a cheap lift by buying 32inch tires and ditching the stock rolling stock. So where does that leave people like me will we be given a chance.
all i can say for those that dont know many of the people that put the bogs on is to get out there when you can and meet them. Just show them how nice of a person u are and that u can play nice. dont know what else to say. I hope you all can be invited to those bogs too. I'm kinda in the same boat as you too.

all the bogs i've been to have been posted on wegotmud.com.... have made it to two invites at unadilla and perkins. had the best times at perkins and unadilla and would go again providing i would get invited to go bog and take some pics and vids to post. thanks guys

==wgm applaudd X2 also agree with all you folks. Last year right by my house i was told that after I left the waterman rd bog, things got waaayyy out of hand. Tires slashed, women punched, etc. I don't think any of us on this site want the rowdy crowd showing up to any bog, it's just a shame that it has to come to this... I left motocross for this and am just finishing my first bogger. So I literally know a handful of people that do this and don't want to not get an invite because no one knows who I am... It would suck to lose interest in bogging because of a lack of places to play befor I even get started.
To all the people that don't know very many other boggers, I too am in the same boat. The only way to get to know more is to go to more posted boggs and introducing yourself to others and show people that you are a trustworthy and respectful person. I have been doing this for 2 years and it has been going great, it just takes time and patience.
have we meet hi i'm big dog and i bogg with my family and always bring enough to share food sodas seats tools and the wife plays daycare while i;m out mingling or wheelin my rig not my computer and always help out at any bogg

when i invite someone i tell them to bring some one with them i like to meet people i invite you you should trust your buddy not to be a jerk if he is then you and your buddy can go and wount get another invite to come back its not all fun and games when you put on a bog lots of work we dont charge at owers its all frinds but i can say its been getting alot bigger then we realy want but no truble yet
personally I don't think alcohol belongs at a mudbog, don't get me wrong I like to drink when I get a chance, but there's alot of steel moving and accidents happen, an alcohol free bog would be nice...
and as for the people that are worried about not getting invited to bogs, start going to the mounds, alot of people from this site hang out there and I can't think of a better way to get to know more people of this site, I just wish I had a trailer to haul my Jeep down there so I can start hanging out with my fellow gotmud'rs, I only know 3 people here and would really like to get to know more...
well i dont haul my truck to bogs but i do drive it there casue its all i got and i love to see you guys in your sweeet trucks doing your thing and i will get out there once in a while but manly there to wacth just like te rest of you dont know to many of you so proly wont get invite but thats how it goes i guess
We pick and choose where we go, there are some boggs that get out of hand and its usually people that are drinking and being obnoxious spectators. I dont think that bogs will come to an end,but i bet you will see a decline in the number that are going on,just because of the liability and crazies leaving the place a pigsty, if you pack it in,pack it out,be courteous and treat all with respect, it can go along way! if you cant be respectful , responsible and considerate of others property then stay the fawk home!

I have been involved in this sport (recreation) for over twenty years... Spectators are a huge part of making a bog an "event". I would bet most everyone on this (or any) site got into bogging byway of spectating at one time or another. Private / invite only / club bogs... are great, but don't rule out the open events.
I believe (MY PERSONAL OPINION) the biggest issue of a poor "event" type bog experience is the near complete lack of organization by the hosts. If you're going to host an event, be responsible about it.
1. Have a firm (I MEAN FIRM) set of rules for organizational & safety reasons
2. Have an event team (security) to oversee the event
3. Enforce the rules
If you cannot provide the "basics" for people... DO NOT take their money!

People should be able to enjoy themselves, and feel safe bringing their families... both participants & spectators.

It's not a matter of spectator vs participant... I've seen just as many butt heads in the pits as on the sides. I think the drunk sitting in a lawn chair running his mouth is a lot less hazardous than the drunk behind the wheel of a 5ton mudstrosity trying to be a tough guy. The trouble makers come in all forms... either way, they simply need to be dealt with and removed immediately, and without question.

i been to a lot of bogs and all you hear is f^$k this and that no respect for any body around them, my wife and grand kids don't need to hear that all the time. i don't drink. but don't care if someone dose as long as they don't get stupid about it. i wheel my truck not my beer cans. and it is a matter of who you know. i still don't get invited to some of the bogs. and i know the people. it mite be because i dont like drunks, is why i dont get invited. if your not in the tight croud, your not invited. plane and slinple.
wow never new that there was so many problems with drinking at bogs. i am new the bogging world as i dont have a truck YET, and just running my quad.. I would think peopel would have enought common sense to put the can down when there is big Trucks running. Hope i get to meet some of you guys this summer out at the mounds would like to see what these boggs are really like. just look for a fat man on a little yellow quad and you found me...lol hope everyone has a fun muddy safe summer.
I know we have one or two open invites a year! I can HONESTLY say only once have we EVER had major drama! yes, there are stupid drunks that we will talk to and tell them to calm down, but only last yr did anything boil over. But we also have like four or five invite only bogs a year. The reason for this is we as hostesses can enjoy them a lot more. Now we are not going to kick you out if the invite didnt come from our mouths simply because we trust our friends. But if the crowd gets too big (to where our pot luck dinner isnt enough to feed everyone) then we wont let no one else in. Unfortunetly it is coming to a point where there are more and more invite only bogs. I just wish that the people that want to start the drama would just keep their arces at home!

well after this easter there will be alot changing at my easter bogs well first i dont know if i will have them anymore due to the fact a neighbor complained to the zoning comm and want me shut down well as that goes i will find out the beging of the week and if there is another bog here i will have security in bright ornge shirts and no cars will be aloud in just trucks they can come in on foot but no cars just trucks and campers this year was a good year till some ppl that didnt have a bogger got hammered and got throughn out on ther a** i have no problem throughin ppl out if they wanna be stupid i thought of invite only or no bog at all i dont want to punish my fellow boggers because ppl dont have respect

I've been to Kelly's Easter bogs twice now and realy enjoyed it, when I could run anyway. A local place to bog got shut down in my area a couple years ago due to neighbors complaining after 5+ years of bogging there. I depend on the open invite bogs and comp bogs since, just like most others, I don't know any landowners that put on bogs. I don't drink when I bog, do what I can to help out, usually leave early, and clean up my garbage. Really hope the Easter Bogs have not come to an end.

we have a small bog- not that the pits are that small, but small in the aspect of limited parking for trailers and cars (spectators). we have charged at a couple of bogs, and other bogs we have not charged at. WE have more fun at the free bogs.
Where we have a problem is not with the boggers at all. its with the guys that drive in with there 4x4s and run in the mud, then leave, then come back and run in the mud again. The reason we have problems with this is because of all the mud on the road that our neighbors have problems with and then call the Police or complain to the twp. board. although we have not got into any trouble yet, we want to keep playing and avoid those problems.
we are going to have a couple of bogs this year as long as we have enough water (which we do right now) the first bog will be open invite to everybody and i will post it here on wegotmud! we will see how that one goes and base our 2nd bog on the 1st. if all goes well then we will have open invite again, but if it doesnt go smooth then we will go back to invite only.
so to wrap this all up, we agree with everyone, the problems start when the spectators get drunk and take there stock 4x4s out into the mud pit!
Our bogs will be strict with the fact of IF YOUR TRUCK DIDNT COME ON A TRAILER, IT WILL NOT GO IN THE MUD! (and like i stated before that is primarily because of the mud on the road)

1. Have a firm (I MEAN FIRM) set of rules for organizational & safety reasons
2. Have an event team (security) to oversee the event
3. Enforce the rules
If you cannot provide the "basics" for people... DO NOT take their money!
When we have bogs (either of the clubs I belong to) all of the above is in place. If someone gets out of hand, it is dealt with immediately. Drunks and a$$holes are not tolerated... PERIOD. People should be able to enjoy themselves, and feel safe bringing their families... both participants & spectators.
Sorry for the rant guys... I just feel way too many people are trying to host bogs to "be cool" and make some coin without much thought/care for organization or safety. The sad fact is... the "A$$holes & trouble makers" will always manage to congregate. Have a plan to deal with it... and stop letting them ruin it for everyone else.

i like to go bogs and have fun, and i would like to go to invite only bogs. because the only thing that i do as a spectator take vids and pics, and post them up all to see (i can be very discreat when the situation calls). so if you like what i have done please let me know by sending me a pm with the info.
and i do see invite only is sounding like the way to go, because i put on a bog long time ago, and it turned into a mess because the cops were called and it got shut down.

on a serious note the sad thing is it has to come to this last weekend at the dalaney rd bog hada elderly couple n what looked like there grand kid come up to me at the end of the day after we loaded my truck with a huge a smile on there face n thanked me for putting on a great show for them made me feel good i think alot of us take what we do for granted its just the norm n not a big deal just something we do on a saterday to get a rush but for people like them its the coolest thing they ever seen just a shame a few dumbasses have to mess it up for people like them if it go;s to invite only .....just my to cents

you dont know to may people you got the first step done you joined the best damn 4x4 sight on the net hang out on here you'll get to know some people another thing you can do is the mounds is open to everyone lots of good guys/girls there if your cool when you go too places like that n open boggs you'll get invited to others

Its a true shame but i agree the people get stupid crazy i am a beer drinker but i choose to drink after i get home i bring my wife and children to the bogs and just have fun i refuse to get drunk and kill myself or anyone else, the only little problem i have with invite only bogs is the fact that im new at this im now on my second year and i dont really know many people yet so i would be just fine and dandy with a invite only bog just as long as i was invited!
I can understand why boggs might go to invite only, but it is sad a few ruin it for everyone. I like to drink but not when bogging. There is two much responsibility, there is always tons of people around and then you have to tow your rig home. I am not saying some people can't have a couple and be fine, I choose not to. I agree it is usaully the people without a bogger or their daily driver that gets the most out of control. Late afternoon when it gets really wild is when I choose to leave.

when someone is being a asshole, dumbass, to drunk to control them selfs , ruin it for others,
take there pic
and then lets post it on here
and make sure we dont let them in events anymore
or some type of measure to help keep the riftraft out and the boggs as good as they can be
lets stop bitching about it and lets join together to make a difference
to find the bad in a situation is always the easy way out
lets start policing our own boggs
if we see folks getting out of control
MAN up or WOMAN up and say suppin (there is always someone in charge)
we cant fix stupid but we can stop/reduce them if we put forth the effort
but lookdown at your feet ......see that boot...it will fit into anyones ass

Very well said and i could not agree more. I always have a camera on me and i know I am not the only one. But it is up to BigDaddy to start that type Thread if he even want that here. I guess we will just have to wait and see what he says.
ok , i agree with the drinking and being stupid, my family goes to boggs every weekend and really its not fair to us that we have to leave early because of a bunch of drunks,on the other hand you cant say it is just us spectators no one in my family drinks at all, i see a whole bunch of drivers every weekend blasted off there ass and bogging. like the last howell bog what a drunk fest that was . people fighting people overdosing and ambulances having to come . so all im asking is dont blame it all spectators

I use to hold mud boggs 2-3 times per year. they are a great time and a good place for family and freinds to have some fun. Those days of open boggs are OVER for me. To many rude people out their. they honestly dont care about your property- your guest- or the niegbors. We held some rather well put togeather events for years. and you could see it as time went on that the amount of spectators was growing by double each event. We would caution tape off the areas that we didn't want the boggers to be going. we would post signs for safety and regulations throughout the property. we even went to the trouble of providing porta-potties. No charge and no cost to anyone. In the begining we would spent the money on a Hog for a roast and not ask for anything in return. As time went by the people like usual would get more and more rude. To the point of desstructing the property( when your at a bog and you want to play with your p00- take it to the designated play areas. not the yards the fields or the DAMN driveway. Spinning your tires on gravel throws rocks. rocks fly and they pelt parked cars) We stopped doing open boggs and then We started having private boggs. and we would have peopel from word of mouth stop in and say they were invited. I would say you were by who? In response Oh by Andy Hosford. My response was Oh ok then lets go find him. Oh here he is. Im andy hosford. And I dont know you. so not likely... This is a private bogg. sorry! The bad eggs in the batch ruined a great time for many. Kid you not we started having boggs and would have 6 trucks then as the years go by the boggs turned into this monster with 30 boggers (real boggers not daily drivers) and 300+/- people. This all through the word of mouth...

the driver was like PFFT shouldn't have parked there
now that is uncalled for , say sorry dude offer to help fix it
be kind to your nieghbor type thing
treat others as you would want to be treated ,
and the bad apples will rise to the top , and get noticed

Yeah, kinda like being branded for life because somebody says you're causing trouble, takes your picture, and turns it in to the p00 list so you're banned everywhere. I think these things ought to be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. People can change, too. Sometimes people can just have a really bad day. Hey, who are we to judge and label others? The one that takes the picture might actually be the one who caused the trouble. Ok, hope I didnt step on anyone's toes sayin all that.

so we all see there is a pattern of bad things going on
and soon our bogging spots will be no longer open
so i think we should all press the issue of no drama and no fighting at boggs
and start to police things more (from within) and say suppin to folks when they are starting to get to rowdy or out of control
and try to stop it before it becomes a huge problem
and all our mudd boggs become exstinct
i have seen and heard folks saying already "its almost not worth it anymore" "gonna just sell all of my stuff and take up knitting"
i dont want to lose what we got here in michigan

I dont believe this is fair. Just beacuse some spectators are drunken fools doesnt mean you should ruin it for the rest of them. And if someone blocks your hauler in, you find out who it is and say hey man can you move for me? its not a big deal. I understand that it may get annoying, but without the spectators paying the 5 or 10 dallar donation to get in, you probably wouldnt have a bog. banning alcohal from the bog would be more of a reasonable solution and having bogger only pits as well. thats just my thaught. Gotmud?
