Title: Putting a LT1 in my bogger
Post by: OL' CHET on May 02, 2010, 10:52:35 PM
had a stock 350 put a new cam, intake, had head's re-done. Then spun a crank bearing, at the first bog. helped a friend restore his 67 Mustang, in return he gave me a LT1.

is it the alum head motor? i had one in a z28 with the lt4 kit and wow, those things run. are you keeping it fi or carb? id take the heads off and port match everything and throw in a cam to wake it up. those are killer motors.

good luck with the build, i love hearing a 7k rpm screamin lt1 in a bogger.

Yes there is. If I were you I would get a set of stock alum. heads, Yours is only 265 hp. Alum ones make it 295. And run the number and make sure you didn't get hosed with a 4.3 LT1. It's a v8 and visually the same. Good luck.

Finally got it ready to start... had a few set backs in the process. had exhaust manifolds on, cut the air tubes off of them, welded up the holes, and apparently slag fell in the cylinder quiett. turned it over a couple times and heard a little banging ==doh. So i took spark plugs out, looked in the cylinder, with a flash light and noticed the slag. Took it all apart did very little damage got it all back together ! Also put in a B&M slap shifter, welded up a headache rack! and a buddy of mine  made me a gas tanks as part of a swap of labor so now I'm going to test it! GotMud?
