As I said above, I dont text, easier to call IMO
I think texting is stupid and texting while driving is just plain stupid. (like drinking & driving)
someday people will figure that its faster/safer to call than to text

please post if you get pulled over for texting or the police think your texting,
it just seems to me ,the law has bigger crimes to fight,
whats our world coming to?   Big Brother is watchin you text & what you text...

id have to say i disagree. im happy the texting ban has come out. i think they should make talking on the phone illegal while driving too. i pass so many ppl while they are talking on the phone. when you talking on the phone and driving, you cant concentrate on what you should be doing, which is driving. i think it will make the roads safer, even tho ppl are still going to do it anyways. i hope ppl that text on their phone when driving get a fukin ticket. i have enuf anxiety issues, i dont need someone in front of me texting and swervin and p00, cause they cant pull over for 5 fukin minutes to make a call. the road is to be driven on, not a telecommunications area.

[/end rant]

i agree, the whole cell phone should be illegal to use while driving, how does a policeman know if you are texting or lookin for a phone# that u are trying to call,
i hate talking on the phone when im driving,I don't mind 2 way tho

the state police already issued a statement saying they dont know how to enforce it.  they aren't going to pull you over for it (SUPPOSEDLY) unless they are ABSOLUTELY certain you are texting.  its legal to text at stop lights too.  as long as the car isnt moving.  oh and if they ask for your phone you dont have to show it to them.  its just to deter people from being stupid and running others off the road.

I agree that using a cell phone in any way while driving is wrong, I think most of us can agree with that, I just don't feel they should be creating what is basically an unenforceable law, it really should be a common sense thing, I guess I feel if a person is talking on a cell while driving and they cause an accident or are in an accident themself and anyone else is hurt than it should be a crime, lack of common sense alone should not be a crime, although I am sure there are those who will disagree with me on that also,  lol  ;D.

This is a "feel good law"  the cops can't really enforce it.. unless they blatantly catch you.
however, if your involved in an accident you can be sure the lawyers will be all over it.

this  is  crazy.  theres so many laws  now  they don't enforce.   whats  one  more.
texing  is over the top.  you  should  be  keeping you  eyes on the road. not a  keybord.
i can drive  and  talk on my phone,  put it on sperker phone.  no differnt  than a  CB.

i heard that if they pull u over for texting u dont have to give them your phone so how can they prove that u were texting or not tough to enforce. i still believe if u want to text or talk pull over to the side of road or parking lot and do it

just to let you know that there is a law on the book the only people that can legally talk on the phone are doctors and lawers while driving for every one sles it is a fine and 2 points. it is not inforced because of the amout of people that own phones and the fact that they never know who they are ticketing

i dont think it should be ILLEGAL i think people just need some common sense! Every time the Federal government steps in on our lives is one more step away from freedom. Doesnt matter what its for. ==2cents

The lack of common sense is the reason for the laws...

I think it is about time to have a ban on texting while driving.  Texting usually requires two hands, so you are then driving with your knee as well as not paying attention to the road.

As for talking while driving?  I have no issues with that.  You can talk to the person next to you while driving right?  Not really much different except you actually hold the phone and drive with one hand.  I bet that a lot of the people that are against talking on the phone while driving will still go to McDonalds and munch on fries or a burger while driving and talking to the person next to them ;)

I text all the time but I agree people  shouldn't text while driving even tho I've done it myself. We are a free people this isnt russia I'm tired of all these laws that have been passed. We've become slaves to our own government; a government who should fear the people not the other way around. Take mud bogging for example, there used to be a farm in st.charles where we went mudding all the time. Now we cant because the cops kept showing up and threating the land owner because of the noise. We lost our rights without as much as a wimper how said is that.

Texting is just the begining. Next will come the "distracted driving"  local ordinances. No eating, no drinking, definetly no talking on the phone, no personal hygiene (flossing, shaving, make-up, etc.).
Well  some of it is good, we have some dumb@ss drivers out there. I believe the cops should always use discretion. IMHO they should not ENFORCE the laws, leave that to the judges. The police should just keep the peace. The laws are just tools to do so.   ==np

I was laying in bed tonight and the phone rang. A friend was driving and texting and went in a ditch ==duh, lucky for her there were no trees, but she did hit a big log that jammed under the front end of her grand prix, broke the front bumper all up and blew out a rear tire.. Mudslinger to the rescue. ==dj I got the log out and fixed the tire and got her on the road again. Thats just a warning to all that text and drive. Does anyone else have an opinion on texting and driving?? ==dn

i hate the fact that we have to haye laws to make people not do stupid things but i think its a good idea because there are alot of stupid people that dont have common sense out there. i personaly hate texting if somebody texts me i usualy call them back. as far as not giving the cop your phone if you get pulled over for texting while driving i heard that you have to or your automaticly charged with it.

i agree using a cell phone in general while driving is very very dangerous. I agree with some of the officers im in daily contact with its a stupid law and its a reason to pull you over but the problem is the have no evidence you were texting they have to prove u were texting. and without seeing your phone which is a type of search. Which you dont have to consent to. 99% of the officer will not go after a warrant for phone records because its to much hassle for a civil infraction ticket.
Myself i still think its bull even being in law lol. just another way the government is trying to control us
