Ok, so now the bummer list:
rocker panels are gone (hence the diamond plate)
he gave me 2 new ones - bonus

tires are a BEEEEYOCH!!!
bump steer is terrrrrrible
and loud as f***
lookin for a narrower set of 33's or 35' with wheels

it appears when he installed the lift
he only hand tightend the hardware.. easy fix

T case was never bolted down..
got that fixed

soft top is shot, need a new one

the actuator for the front axle.. the vacume tube nipple broke off flush..
I'm takin care of that today

and worst of the worst is the motor.. 4 banger is so gutless I
can't even make 5th gear
gonna 350 vortec it I think, he threw in a 700r and another 231 on the deal sooo..

its a nice platform to start with.. wife can toss it around and have some fun
Silver lk the end of the month.. weeeeeeeeee!!

They are like that from the factory.  Any larger tires and 5th is pointless.

So, spent the whole weekend workin on it..
got the vacume actuator workin, now has front axle ..
worst part was figuring out the vacume lines and what went where  ???
and had to drill and tap a broken bolt for the acutator mount
changed fluid in the Diff..
removed and tightened every bolt in the front end w/locktite ( I swear the guy that put this together doesn't own a single wrench)
boots on the shocks
turned it around and did the same w/ the rear axle..
had to drop the leafs on the rear cause he failed to get the alignment pins into the holes so they were just riding on the plate  ==doh..
changed fluids here too
need to stop and get some more 80/90 for the diffs on the way home tonight.
lengthened the shifter levers to compensate for the lift.

still need to put boots on the shocks and grease it..
get some different tires/wheels to make it a little more streetable
needs a new top
but other than that it's pretty much ready to go play.

Well, 2 days and $800 later it now has:

Buckshot mudders 275's  (bout' 33"s)
new wheels (10")
Hard top

still needs a stabilizer for the steering but the new tires/wheels make a HUGE difference.

gonna take the Swampers and cut the big lugs off.. round the tires out for the Dunes.
anybody got a tire knife they can loan me ???

fer about 3yrs!!!  ==doh

I think the new tires/wheels improve the looks overall..

and they definately improve driveability..

Well, lets see.. I have several options..
Vortec 454 -  should probably save this for me..  ;)
305 .030 over currently in the white Cheep.
workin a deal w/ the neighbor for the VW.. I can get..
289 w/ 350 crank
327 (68')
350 2 bolt w/ high nickle and crank options from steel 350 to cast 400
head assemblies from 194's,2.02's, camelbacks etc...

either way, I plan on building a TBI or fuel injected..

dont' think so.. its got a 4" suspension and 3" body already.. rear drive shaft has pretty good angle out of
the tcase already, gettin rid of the bump stops will give me another 3" of flex too.

ALWAYS SWEETER WHEN YOU CAN GET A GOOD DEAL FROM THE START SO YOU CAN JUSTIFY SINKING SOME MONEY INTO IT. NICE JEEP FOR SURE! GOOD LUCK WITH THE REST OF THE REPAIRS.
