well me and my buddy bought this s10 a few days ago. it is a 92 on 42" tsl super swampers. here it is on her way home.
(http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh2/DYLANMALONE/133.jpg) (http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh2/DYLANMALONE/133.jpg)
it has a engine in the pic but we have to return it. so we have no trans engine or t case. it has stock cj 7 axles but we have a dana 44 for the front and a dana 60 for the rear already.
we plan on putting in a 350 small block and a 700 trans. so the other day we started fixing up the body on the truck so we can get it painted.
(http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh2/DYLANMALONE/139.jpg) (http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh2/DYLANMALONE/139.jpg)
(http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh2/DYLANMALONE/141.jpg) (http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh2/DYLANMALONE/141.jpg)
i think we did a good job for only being 17 and never doing cab corners before we still need to sand the bondo and the rest of the truck.
oh and did i mention that this truck will be put inside of our school!!!!!! once we get her painted were going to dissemble it and bring it inside the school to raise money for our senior class. can you imagine the look on other kids faces when they walk into the school and see this monster sitting there?!? we told our principle our plan and he is all for it we just have to set a date to do it. and btw we are selling add space on the truck to local businesses to raise money so if you would like to donate that would be awesome.
i plan on keeping this updated as we do work so follow us in the next few months!!!!!!!
look at those rear leafs!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey that was sitting in the tire shop parking lot in davison! i live 4 houses down from there. passed that truck everyday!
yup it sure was lol there tires are bout shot but will work for a couple of highschool kids lol there def into the wear marks
actually can anyone point us in the right direction on hydro steering? i heard we can do it using our stock gearbox and power steering pump is this true?
yes on the power steering pump...no on the gear box....need to get a orbital valve and hydraulic cylinder.
ohh by the way....cool project!!!!
thx where can i get that just at like tsc...and just 1 cyl to the steering arm or 2 one for each wheel?
To be honest..contact EROQ....he is the man with hydro steering
i was gonna go look at that tomorrow lol.... glad to see its goin to someone thatll do somethin with it! good luck!
Let me know if your gonna sell those axles we are lookig for a set
Burl I got a stock set out of a 88 wrangler $200 never seen mud and ready to go. If he isn't selling his. Pm if interested
yea give me like a month or so and we;'ll have these axle out and ill post it on our build page.
==kp Sweet looking project! Good luck with your build!
==wgm
i think i saw this truck at a body shop in napolean about three or four months ago, where did u get this
he got it from the tire shop in davison
not bad ill give ya a tip dont let that bondo sit as soon as its sandable start the sanding cause if you let it dry all the way its like sanding concrete. Good luck on the project great idea nice to see your doing something productive.
well thx but i already waited to long its been a few days and i was gonna sand it tommorow lol......i was lookin forward to it untill i red that lol
alright so i have a few really big updates.
we spent all night cuting out the bed and buildin a role cage

then i spent the next day cutting the bar off cause it was ugly lol
here she is getting ready to be painted.

here are some of our sponsors that i started to paint on

oh and btw i got the drivetrain all figured out. my buddy flipped his durango the other day he is fine but his dad said if i paid the tow truck fee and the impound fee then i could have it so.....340 bucks and i got this (http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh2/DYLANMALONE/1205101430-1.jpg) (http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh2/DYLANMALONE/1205101430-1.jpg) i am gonna use the engine trans and t case...but now i need a new front axle cause the d44 i have is a passanger drop and the durango tcase is driver side so if any one has a axle they wanna sell that would be awsome. so thats pretty much where she stands as of now
ohhh just trade the tcase for a 241 drivers drop...lol
or is a 243....p00 i cant remember
newer chevy anyways
yea im gonna do w.e i can 1st. will that bolt up to the durango trans?
trade the durango for chevy parts! lookin good
nice rig ==thumbsup
thanks guys shes commin along fast!!!!!!!!!

i also took the durango apart down to a rolling chassi. we decided instead of moving the engine and trans anf tcase with the whole wireing harness it would be just easier to move the cab and the leaves from the truck to the durangos frame. plus the durago frame is full box where the s-10 isnt. so were just gonna do that cause we have to put nex axles on it anyways we figered that would be way easier.
(http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh2/DYLANMALONE/0107111841.jpg) (http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh2/DYLANMALONE/0107111841.jpg)
im happy with how the paint turned out too it dosnt look to bad for someone who hasnt ever used an airbrush befor lmao.
oh and we were thinking nameing her "big three" since we have a chevy body, dodge engine and frame, and we plan on running ford axles. what you you think? or maybe "boe" as in "bit of everything"

i vote the Big Three. cool project
you need a pass drop 208 tcase, it will bolt right to the back of the dodge trans, and that way you can use the axles you have.
well i have the 231 and these axles are only cj7's so they are a little weak to be running 42's dont you think? you guys know better than me what do you think?
jeep axles will break with 42s hell my 1 tons broke with 42s lol
yea thats what i figured lol we got a 60 for the rear and were gonna run a 44 upfront till we beak it just because were getting a great deal on one from one of the other member on this site.
it should work for alitte while!
yea i figure we only have a 318 so it shouldnt be too bad.....maybe lol
looking good guys
here's a small update. we got our new axles thanks to terspr250 hooking us up with a great deal, thanks again. we have a dana60 rear now and a dana44 for the front.

cool project!
ok so the tires that i want are 8 on 8 and our axles are 8 on 6.5. so i was thinking about making some adapters this is what ive come up with let me know what you all think.
(http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh2/DYLANMALONE/adr.png) (http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh2/DYLANMALONE/adr.png)
(http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh2/DYLANMALONE/adt.png) (http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh2/DYLANMALONE/adt.png)
yea i guessed on the center hole till i get a measurement. and i think about welding a nut on the inside of the tube for the 6.5 and then hitting the studs outta the drum and put a bolt in from the inside of the drum to the welded nut on my adapter. if that makes sense? lol then for the 8" there is a little sleve in the tubing so it wont get crushed then just run a bolt all the way through.
oh and its hard to see in the pic but the 6.5" don't go all the way through that why i want to weld a nut in.
i will remove the studs on the axles. put bolts in instead in tightened them from behind the adapter and drum will be one piece and come off together. in stead of just attaching the addapter you need to first remove the drum then bolt them together. i know its hard to explain over a message.
going with tractor tires so that wont happen lol i'm afraid that if i drill a hole all the way through for the studs that the 2 holes will be to close together and will be weak.
have you ever seen a wheel spacer? the ones i have seen are machined so the old studs are in the middle, not above like your drawing, you might have to go that route, ya know? you design looks more complicated than needed ( i mean this nicely) start with a solid chunk that you can bolt on with the old lugs and studs, and clock it so the new studs are between the others. that thing you drew up looks very hard to make with a lot of parts that need lined up perfectly and a lot of welds that could fail. like they say k.i.s.s.....keep it simple smarty!
forget the wheel adapters, weld new centers in your rims, it'll be stronger than an adapter and be way easier to do,
yea the guy i want the tires from said he would do it for 75 so im just gonna do that. and don't worry i wont take offense lol if i didn't wanna know what you guys thought i wouldn't have asked. i have little experience so all input is helpful.
what tires are you running?
i would stay with the s-10 frame but do what u think is good ...
im looking at some 42" tractors......and i was gonna use the s-10 frame cause its lighter but its also pretty rusty in some spots. why do you think that ones better? plus its a lot of extra work to move the engine and the whole wiring harness over and make mounts for it all.
How bout the mutt.... Might be a name since its a bit of everything lol
Or .....Heinz 57
the mutt is a pretty good idea lol
sweet project looking good applaudd ++peace
thanks guys
well no update just waiting lol so i figured i might as well show you guys my car lol im board.....

lol i know what you mean. its taking me forever to save up and build my truck
yea for sure but def worth it in the long run. my parents keep yelling at me for putting all the cash into as car that has plpd on it. when i got my jeep i 1st lifted 3 inches with 31's had that for about a year then totally redid everything lol they wernt happy but w.e its what i wanted lol
lol yea my mom gets pissed because thats all i do is save money for my truck. my dad dont care tho lol
yea dads strait with me too like he'll act mad then the parts come and hes all pumped to help me and show me how to do it all so it works out alright
Lol yea my Dad will act mad about it but hes just doing that so my mom wont byTch haha
lmao yea same story here lol
hey terry do you happen to have found those spring perches?
oh and the truck is goin in my school this Sunday ill be sure to take a bunch of pics. it will be in there for a week during spirit week before snowcomming.
so we ran out to big al's today and check out some tires.. they measure about 42's im gonna go get them this weekend he has to weld in some new centers for me. i cant wait to get those new axles in and the tires on. has anyone made there own driveshaft? any tips i think that i am gonna have to lengthin the one i have. i heard some people put sand in them. is that to help keep it balanced?
what are you doing with the tires that are on it?
idk sell'em probly there on a 15 in rim with a 5 on 4.5 lug pattern. there pretty rough though
what would you want for tires only?
oh idk lol they would probly be only good for rollers.i know that one of them is tubed for sure. it has a split in it and has a tread from another tire bolted on the in side and has a tube. they are all defiantly to the wear marks. i dont want you thinkin there something better than they are lol. i need a radiator for this truck. if u have an extra radiator and electric fan laying around maybe we could trade?
* or some steering parts
I got a chevy rad and I think a cooling fan... can you get me pics for the tires? ones of the one with tube too please!
yea i can do that tonight when i get outa class
sweet I will look and see what got for fans I know I got a rad or 3! lol

hey thx man yea i just want to get the thing in the school and back out so we can begin the real work lol. the principle says it cant have the engine or anything in it so its just a waiting game until then, just collecting parts for now.

you could cut and weld ur old ones, biggest thing is keeping everything straight, use a chop saw to make a nice straight cut, tac weld then recheck by spining the shaft, ive heard of people making a jig to hold it all straight, i wouldnt worry bout vibrations if its only a mud truck, or go to tsc and buy there tractor shafts, they have some square stock shafts, yokes, and u joints
yea ill def check out tsc. and no im not worried about vibs thanks,

Thats Bad Ass man! Looks sweet!
nice job man!!! applaudd looks bad ass in the school... bet it was fun to do
yea it was a real good time. we have raised a fair amount of money for my class just in two days. and the paper is coming tomorrow to take our picture and write up an article. it should be cool
cool s-10! looks a lot better than when u started ++peace ==kp

nice job man!!! applaudd looks bad ass in the school... bet it was fun to do
yea thanks. yesterday i took the leafs off the s-10 frame and moved them to the durango frame....well the rear ones at least. i may work on the front ones today but i have to weld in some brackets for them...finally starting to do the real work
we cut the rear petches off and moved them out so they line up with the new frame and leafs. we got the rear all mocked up today. i need to get a drive shaft though before i can weld the perches on it so i can check my angles......
(http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh2/DYLANMALONE/0303112100-1.jpg) (http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh2/DYLANMALONE/0303112100-1.jpg)
alright well i was board today and all of the steel yards were closed this weekend so i couldnt work on the front end so i put the rear tires on just for fun
(http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh2/DYLANMALONE/0306111800.jpg) (http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh2/DYLANMALONE/0306111800.jpg)
That axle looks good in there, keep up the good work. Cant wait to see it done
well we were sitting there looking at the t case we were thinking about how bad the front ds angle would be and we noticed a little thing,,,,the bolt holes were all spaced 3.5 inches which allowed for a 90* flip.
(http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh2/DYLANMALONE/0307111911.jpg) (http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh2/DYLANMALONE/0307111911.jpg)
this will get out tcase about 8 inches lower so our angle should be pretty good now. the front ds should be about 42"s long.we are goin to pick up some steel tomorrow so that we can get the front leafs all mocked up. we actually re did the rear and put the other more arched leaf springs in the rear. the ones that we had in it (in the pics above) are longer and we decided those would work better in the front.
i just need to make a new cross member for the trans and tcase so the front ds wont hit and re work the linkage
the only thing to remember with clocking a tcase is oiling issues, most people will run whatever lube ur tcase calls for and some lucas to help keep the upper half lubed up.. ==wgm
yea the pump is bellow the oil line still, and we figured that it would get some splash lubrication. the breather is high enough too. do you think that it will be ok like that? we also though since it wont be hitting high speeds that we may over fill it a little. or is that not a good idea?
That's sweet and musta been fun as shitte getting that thing in the school (Now THAT'S how you do it!!) Oh and I vote for the name "Big 3" also.

alright sorry for the long time on the updates......the cab is almost ready to go on. we have everything all welded in. the driveshafts are made and are in. the divorced tcase is mounted. we now have 2 tcases it was the only way to have the front ds work and i didnt have a tailshaft to replace the 1st tcase so we kept it. so now we can have granny gears. the gas tank has been relocated bumpstops are on just not in these pics. the shifter linkage for the 2nd tcase is made......i feel like there is more but i cant remember.

and this was pretty cool we had a cut off wheel explode and it hit my radiator and it started to leak all over the floor.the picture is after we fixed it.we just crimped the ends and soldered them. my day also got hit with the wheel he has a nice gash in his arm and leg but hes alright. i just need to do breaks and it will be fully functional. there is still a long list of things that need to be done though. let me know what you all think
by the way this was the trucks first drive today
Looks good Dylan glad to see the axles worked for ya, cant wait to see it in the mud
yea they worked good. the front has a little too much play for my liking i think the u joints are bad but ill just have to check them. but that is easy work, in the video i posted i didn't get on it to hard cause not all the body mounts are on it but it felt really peppy even in low low. ( i didnt wanna go to fast cause of the lack of breaks lol ) i am going to do a disk break conversion though.
sorry some pics didnt go in when i updated. heres the hole in the radiator

What kinda crawler ??
ran it once and it did great untill i shredded my front axle : ( thats why i sold it. i know hwo owns it and they switched in a d60 up front and says the truck does great. and i am building a 2001 cherokee, may go d60's on that. 3 link front and possibly 4 link rear.
