well ive been asked by a couple guys for more pictures of my truck so i figured i would start a build with the pictures i have
the truck started out life as a 1990 w250 that i drove in high school. the n i started building it when my dad bet me i wouldnt keep my first 4wd, so here it goes ill do a little be day by day its been a long build
pic details
1: the closest i have to when i first bought the truck and installed a 3" body lift
2: with 35"s
3: in the barn after installing a 4" rough country
4: 4" with 35 bogger on weld wheels
everything was bolt on to this point
heres a pic of what the truck looks like now
if ya want me to fast foreward past the build to where it is now can do i havent done one of these build posts so i have alot of pictures and info!
throw whatever questions out there
Yep post them pics
run with u a few times in parma like the looks of the old dodge and ur tow rig is pretty nice too
nice
hell yeah! whats the drive train? any motor pics?
nice
thats awesome. I like the change over u did with the 70's grill. 75 or so?
well the truck started out 318 fuel injected with a 46rh transw ith no overdrive and a 241 case d44 front and 9.25 rear with 3.91 gears
heres a couple pics of why you dont drive your toy to the mud pit. i sheared 8 lugnuts it was a scary ride if i would have lost the tire about 10foot sooner i wouldnt be here to talk about it being there was a 4foot deep culvert in the ditch
along the lines i got a set of 39.5 boggers a dually box and built spacers and dropped the front spring mounts and made longer shackels in the front
oh and we cant forget headers glasspacks and stacks!! ( it was cool but got old)
then a little spray paint and with the help of a friend built a beefy ass bumper and off to the lima 4wheel jamboree
nothing like a little winter boggin! needless to say it didnt get washed for a while
then i sold my harely bought some 44 boggers got a sick deal all 4 brand new blem tires for $1700 (yea they rubbed here and there)
along the lines picked up a 1974 ramcharger and swaped out the front clip and cut the wheelwells to match the rear
believe it or not i ran the weak ass 318 with 200k on it for another year along with the dana 44 front with only 1 broken axleshaft
OH MY WOW!!! all i can say at heart im a mopar girl and thats all i need to say.. i got a 74 powerwagon that has been owned by my father since the day it came off the line. we have to scrap the cab but im using frame and drive train and engine just need to put a body on it. think we are gonna put a chevy body on my dodge frame... Great looking dodge!!
love the old dodge trucks there so awsome and the 318s never wana die! nice truck cant wait for more pics. id like to get one sometime mabe a dually lifted nice.
I dig these too. My dad has always been a mopar man and gives me heck for my Chevy's! He built ram chargers and pick up's ranging from 70's thru 90's. Cool rig
i cant find all my pictures from over the winter 2 years ago but heres what happened:
i ditched the d44 and 9.25 and swapped out for dana60 and 70 5.13 gears and locker in the rear completly rebuilt the axles
then got rid of the 4 inch lift and blocks and had AB spring in grand rapids build 12" front and 14" rear springs bolted them on and took them back off the springs were V shaped and had no flex at all. so after the hassle and loos of money because of restocking fee i went to BDS in coldwater and bought chevy 8" front and rear springs. i shackle flipped the rear which later on i fugured out doesnt work with more than a 4" lift spring. that cost me 12 stitches across my knickles because the shackle flipped at a bogg and i was flipping it with a crow bar and slipped. yea ouch!! so i dropped the stock rear spring mounts with a big piece of c channel
i also aquired and wrecked 2wd with good cab so swapped that out and reinforced the weak factory cab mounts
then loaded the truck up and took her for the next nightmare..... driveshafts
then last year painted the truck
nice truck
i almost forgot all my driveshafts have been built by A&I Balancing in concord mi. Terry has been a HUGE help, with the steep front shaft angle i was tearing up cv's like paper we went to a high angle cv with a long travel coarse spline set-up and still had issues but we've got it solved now we got rid of the cv and changed to a monster 1-5/8" cap u-joint with 2 pto yokes.
more to come later
if you have any questions let me know im sure im leaving alot out
pic in front of A&I
nice work man, im curious on driveshaft prices if you can remember them
sweet, i gotta get my buddys pile put back together so i can finish up the crap i was doin to my ramcharger
well as far as driveshft prices go i am sponsered by him so my prices are not quite the same as everyone else but for ALL new front and rear shafts with large yokes for the rear t-case front and rear yokes you are most likely going to be around $750 but prices vary depending on lengths and joint and cv size. he is cheaper than any other competitor in my area and is a great guy to deal with
thanks, i need a new rear but have been dreading the price of a good one
the rears are cheaper but it all depends what you want just give him a shout and he will be able to throw you a rough estimate
badass truck man gotta give u props
