Title: getting ready for sanddunes
Post by: HoPpeR on December 23, 2010, 01:52:30 AM
I got 1987 Wrangler I am going to get ready for sand dunes.  My kids will be in the back and I heard that u had to extend the roll bars to the back corners?  Any ideas on what I need to make it safe? Thanks HoPpeR.  ;D

stan boyd from engineered victories on (bristol?) is very reputable, or wind pushers.  i assume you mean silver lake dunes, you can get flags in town at appletree or DAR, and i would recomend going before a holiday weekend, just to get to know the place. when its packed you have to get a voucher for your entry time...kinda sucks if you get there early and they give you a 5:00 pm voucher. and a tire pressure gauge!

What exactly u mean about the vouchers.  We plan on going Memorial weekend and we never been there before.

the wont let everyone in at the same time, lines are crazy long, so you go to the ranger post (thingy?) and they give you a voucher with a one hour window to enter...kinda sucks...best plan they can come up with i guess

Find a "Family bar" (OEM)  there has to be some posted if you look in the right places..
Wife has a set in her 90' , there are also available cross bars (also OEM) that hook to the roll bar and the windshield frame for a little added strength and security.

If you take it to the dunes w/ the CJ7 style roll bar.. people in the back have to wear helmets.
