Title: Ford Question..need help...?
Post by: Bender on January 13, 2011, 05:56:48 AM
I have a 95 Bronco w/ a 5.8L (automatic). I pulled that motor and put it in a 92 F150 5 speed. It all fit and bolted. But now it seems like it has a delay on the throttle response. It idles erratically. Any ideas folks..?

I thought about that. But could it be a sensor also..? Cause I  pulled the 5.8L from an automatic and put it in a 5 speed..? And I switched out the computers too...

How does it run otherwise ? I'd check timing for sure... I'm not sure if you know this or not but there is a 2 wire plug on the fenderwell that you have to unplug when setting timing otherwise it won't work correctly.

Ok...here's an update. I found a couple vacuum leaks and plugged them. Now it idles fine. But now, when I hit the throttle, it bogs down and wants to die. Like there is a fuel problem. I'm going to change my injectors and plugs cause it was sitting outside (covered under a tarp) for almost a year. Thx for all the help.

Check fuel pressure & clean the throttle body, kick the timing up 3 deg. Prolly timing chain needs replaced.

remove the dist cap turn the crank both ways & see what lag you have in the rotor

Should have installed a steel tchain while it was out of the truck.

Well, whenever I think it's a gas problem. It really turns out to be a spark problem. Does it bog just under load? Or when your in "neutral" too?

Did the 92 F 150 have a non HO 5.0 in it before you dropped in 5.8? If so, you may need to use the wiring harness with the 95 computer. That is if the pin terminals are different or missing.  Because 5.8 has different firing order and cam than a non HO 5.0 as well as different injector  sequence. 5.8 and H.O 5.0 has the same firing order. The fore mentioned will run be will not run well.

Id guess throttle position sensor, if fuel injected.
