I have a 95 Bronco w/ a 5.8L (automatic). I pulled that motor and put it in a 92 F150 5 speed. It all fit and bolted. But now it seems like it has a delay on the throttle response. It idles erratically. Any ideas folks..?
have had that happin to me with my 5.8 probley a vacuum leak theres so many vacuum lines on them its had for them not to leak everything is vacuum on them
I thought about that. But could it be a sensor also..? Cause I pulled the 5.8L from an automatic and put it in a 5 speed..? And I switched out the computers too...
thats what i was guna ask is the check engine light on?
the bulbs in my dash maybe burned or my fuses....have to check them tomorrow....
idk theres so many thing it could be on that truck you if it was a 95 it could have been obd2 and the 92 is obd 1 so could be a problem im not sure though
could be timeing to
How does it run otherwise ? I'd check timing for sure... I'm not sure if you know this or not but there is a 2 wire plug on the fenderwell that you have to unplug when setting timing otherwise it won't work correctly.
I'm checking that this morning. Thx folks
Ok...here's an update. I found a couple vacuum leaks and plugged them. Now it idles fine. But now, when I hit the throttle, it bogs down and wants to die. Like there is a fuel problem. I'm going to change my injectors and plugs cause it was sitting outside (covered under a tarp) for almost a year. Thx for all the help.
i have to look i might still have some parts for that not sure though

Check fuel pressure & clean the throttle body, kick the timing up 3 deg. Prolly timing chain needs replaced.
remove the dist cap turn the crank both ways & see what lag you have in the rotor
Should have installed a steel tchain while it was out of the truck.
change fuel filter??
change the idle postion sensor
Figure it out yet?
I did change the idle position sensor...it's alittle better but still hesitates when you hit the gas. I going to change the fuel filter soon...thx for all the help.

Throttle Body is dirty get some throttle body cleaner

Just a question.. Kinda realated but did u put a pilot bearin in the end of the crank shaft?? I no that gas nothing to do wit the engine not running right but that could cause trans problems down the road..
Yea, I put in a new pilot bearing.....still kinda stumped with the way its running.

I have an Edelbrock Manifold & Holley 600 if ya want it to run better
Well, whenever I think it's a gas problem. It really turns out to be a spark problem. Does it bog just under load? Or when your in "neutral" too?
Did the 92 F 150 have a non HO 5.0 in it before you dropped in 5.8? If so, you may need to use the wiring harness with the 95 computer. That is if the pin terminals are different or missing. Because 5.8 has different firing order and cam than a non HO 5.0 as well as different injector sequence. 5.8 and H.O 5.0 has the same firing order. The fore mentioned will run be will not run well.
Id guess throttle position sensor, if fuel injected.
