ok so i have heard they are worth the money?? are they wat is your input? was looking through gearz's yukon sas and seen hegot the caliper mount brackets for 50 bucks whcih aint bad but wondered wat kind of calipers and rotors i would need and any special tools?? any instructions on how to take axle apart?? i checked prices and for new calipers and rotors its like 150-200 ==sick i know it would be better to get new but would it be worth it to go to local junkyard and pick some up?? i have use of a caliper recondtioning machine at tech center but would it be worth it?
you can get the brackets off ebay pretty cheap. thats where i got mine. then you use an 8 lug rotor and caliper off a 10 bolt front axle. and 150-200 for new rotors and calipers???? where did you get that price. i can get new calipers for 15-20 a piece and rotors for about 30 a piece so maybe 100 into 2 rotors and 2 calipers. then whatever you wanna spend on pads.
and if it was me i wouldnt bother going to a junk yard and gettin used stuff. unless things are just that expensive wehre you live you can get new reconditioned calipers for 15-20 a piece. just not worth the time to go thru and do them myself
idk i looked on advance auto.com idk the kit said calipers off of a 75 3/4 ton they were liike 18-20 plus 20 dollarcore
I did my 1985 Chevy many years ago.
Used all parts from a front axle.
First, I mounted rotor to rear axle hub with studs holding rotor to hub of front axle.
re-installed rear hub/rotor on axle.
bolted caliper to backing plate, cut as much as needed to fit backing plate to rear axle.
Lined up caliper to rotor (with new pads installed) (be sure bleeder is to top).
Welded backing plate to axle, with a couple re-inforcing gussets.
Never did, but a different porportioning valve would have been nice,
seemed like rear now needed more fluid volume with calipers.
Hope this helps.
was it for a dd??

a portioning valve off a late 80's caddy works good too. They had disk brakes on the rear, and it allowed the correct amount of fluid to the rear.
