I was dreaming! sorry I would scrap the bbc idea and go 434!  I would build a 540 with really good botton end and ok top end so I can upgrade to alum. heads later on!

alum. headed crate gm preformence 502 r about 9,000 with gm discount. a good friend bought one brand new. blew it up within a year, the warrenty had them take it to lunghammer dealership for a rebuild and the later on the pick up screen fell off and scored the bearing. so they sent them another new one and had them return the other to lunghammer

I would not go BBC (even though I want a to make the 454 SS clone) but I would go with a SBC.
I would do a 454 Small block. But allow it to run on pump gas and Keep it quiet as could be but I would have the electric dumps.  So when so dumb ass want to race or be mess with you hit button and let it rip.

Well this is my plans for my 427 tall deck, I'm going old school. Just taking it out to a 496 13:1 compression around .600 lift solid roller lifters roller rockers single plane intake and around a 200 shot of gas. But I want aluminum heads on mine. Hoping for a solid torque curve of around 650 to 700
