Post by: dusty59 on February 10, 2011, 03:11:28 PM
I just picked up this 79 f 150. its got a 351 mod. in it. Im gonna try to get it running strong and put 38"s or bigger under it. But im just getting into real mud trucks so any advice would be great.. and where could i get some used tires? i have 15" wagon wheels just need some rubber.

Im runnin 38.5s with a 6in lift. And they clear just fine. Just got to get a good wheel space or you start to rub on the trailing arms

ok thanks. I like the looks of your truck. i think that about where i want to be. is your lift all suspension or is there some body? are you running stock axles?

They are stock axles as of now yes. And no body lift. Its all in the suspension.

so the latest on the 79 is i got a brand new radiator from a junk yard and put it in. then new plugs and wires. BUT........... on the first fire up with the new radiator i noticed antifreeze pumping out of the top of the radiator.. humm.. i had a bad head gasket. threw some new ones on and she is running well.  oh and also put on some 33s for now. still a ton left to do. the 4x4 isnt working. i hope its just the hubs.
