I am working on building a '78 f250, and I really want to run 44's. The problem is... I dont think I want to reach that deep into my pockets for a bran new set of boggers or pretty much any interco tire. I found a good alternative, which is the pitbull rockers. I'd like to run them, but have no idea what to expect from them. The articles i read, either someone really loves them or they really hate them, no good feedback. Anybody heard about or ran them? Also, anybody know any cheap power products for the ol 460? Also does anybody know where to get a cheap set of headers for it? I'd love to get a set out the hood or any long tubers. Thanks for puttin up with all the reading, finally diggin into the professional amateur mud boggin so i got a lot of questions!
ALL the pitbull tires are supposed to be awesome in mud. Power isn't really cheap in anything for the most part unless you know an exact combo of hidden gem information. Check ebay for headers. And you're talking about ZOOMIES that go out of the hood.

460 re already a big block i run em no problem... tsl or boggers works good
I am runnin 44 hawgs and i like em, they got plenty of traction and clean out nice. I moved it today and seem to do fine in the snow as well.
As far as power addative's, u can look into other options other than the the motor. Gearing and a good sthal converter will amaze u, it did me. I run 4.88 and 3000 sthal and it ran good on a stock 455 big block with 350 turbo 205 t-case 44 hawgs.
@mutt truck. Completely right on the stall. My dad had a 78 Chevy C1500 with a little ole 350, no major power or anything, but it had an awesome 3 speed from a 60s Camaro with a huge stall and that thing shot like a rocket once you hit the right rpm.
I am really not overly concerned with a lot of power, I dont plan on competitions or anything, and we dont have that heavy soupy clay/ black mud like down south (unfortunately), more of a back-yard bogger. good point on the converter! I have been shopping around for a cheap set of 4.56's. But do you think that 3000 R's is a little high for a big block?
I personally would run a little smaller I think. But idk nearly as much as other people on here.
I got some 44s I'll sell ya pm me! and dont run a stall unless you got the cam to back it up! and gears would be your best friend! I would say 5.13s for 44s and a stock motor. hope this helps
Another small word of advice. I'd rather have a smaller tire spin faster then have a giant tire spin slowly. But that is just me.

this is a good point if you drive the truck on the road but if its a bogger bigger is better lol the taller the tire the less time you spend hung up in ruts! I wont run anything but 44s for a play bogger in my shortbox!
wheel speed is a myth, lol, my buddy had a tracker with 42's and went everywhere...4 cylinder. not much weight tho.

Nope u should be fine with a 3000. I talked to hughes when i got mines and was told that on a stock motor will spool up at a lower rpm. With a cam and pistons and such upgrades it will engage at a closer rpm range of what it is.
So on a stock big block prolly looking at 2200-2500 rpm out of a 3000 sthal.
look up dec headers custom and cheap i paid 200$ out the hood woorks great
