Ok guys I just picked up a D60 out of a 1973 Dodge with 4.88 gears so I am told. Does this sound right or is it a D61? What's it take to hook up the breaks I have read the line are different form Chevy to Dodge. Oh its going under a 1972 Chevy frame... I got a Dana 70 ream with the 60 as well... And I am looking at running Hydro steering, whats it take to run it off the Power steering pump and how much line do I need with a 4" suspension lift and about 8" of body.. Thanks
being that old and with 4.88s it might be a d70. its for sure not a 61 unless its a newer axle.

D61 were in mid 90s diesel dodges and had like 3.42gears or something like that
OK if I can find the #'s what do they tell me? Well it say D60 or D70 or something? They are king pin and the rear is dully if that matter's.

The first Dana 70 front axle was used in 1958 by Dodge in the W300, in both 4.88 and 5.87 ratios. International started using Dana 70 front axles in the late 1960s. Both companies used Dana 70 front axles until the mid 1970's. All of these Dana 70 front axles were closed knuckle, with king pins and had a gross axle rating of 6000 lbs. Like the rear Dana 70 axles, the Dana 70 front axle started out with 23 spline axle shafts and then went to 35 spline axle shafts. While these axles were being manufactured, Dana offered a "Power-Lok" limited slip differential for some of these axles.

if you can get the numbers, i got a book, i can tell ya exactly what it is.
IIRC most dana 61s had a 3.08 gear.
the lowest(numerically), a dana 60 had was a 3.54.

if ya take a wire brush and get the "bill of material number" that would be the easiest way. or take a wire brush and look for the "model number" in the webbing of the pig. that will tell you its a 60 for sure, then the BOM #s i can tell ya what it came out off
Ok I have it the BOM# is 603500-6 and there is a 60 F on the pig... I see it is out of a 1975 W200 & W300 (Heavy Duty Pick-up)
