Just an fyi but the trailblazers are plagued with problems. There in and out the shop all the time with electric issues or trans problems. tried telling this to my cousin jim before he bought his (his was a 2005 btw) and his was in the shop 4 times in the 2 years he owned his. He finally listened and got rid of it.

my buddy had an 05 and it randomly shut off, on the highway, going thru traffic lights, any where. he hated it. the dealership even gave him a computer that he rode with and had to hit some buttons every time it stalled to record the data. never figured it out. traded it in for a liberty
i have a 2008 which is a I6. the only thing that i have noticed and been told is that the air pump which only runs for 45 seconds until the O2 sensors warm up go out quite a bit. the pump is mounted under the vechile and goes to a check valve that is mounted up on the exhaust manifold. poor design. other than that have not had any problems with ours.
sooo might it only be the 05s that have the problems???
They have a p00 load of power, my mom has a 05 and has had no problums with it beside struts n norm wear like breaks n oil changes
The front passenger axle shaft passes through the oil pan. Hope you never need to change the motor.

screw that...
Well I think they are awesome. Dads had about 80,000 on it. Never saw a mechanic once. Was like one of the first years made. I never heard of one of them having problems. 4 people in my family have had them and all of them have loved it. The motor itself, the 4.2 is a beast and I would much rather have that then the v8. Just for the longevity factor and the fact that the 4.2 has like 280hp or something which is plenty for any vehicle. The 4.2 was also on the Wards 10 best engine list from 2002-2005. The 4.2 is a DOHC Inline 6 and I could see the potential for A TON of power from these if the aftermarket was there. As for the Liberty someone mentioned, well......they suck as much gas as the Trailblazer will and cost similar. 4.2 was the last of the inline 6s I believe for almost every american manufacturer.
05 or newer ive been told are the good ones gm had a lot of problems before that my mom bought a 04 gm ended up givin her a new one since hers was plauged with electric problems never had any prob with the 05 keep in mind my dad has been a service manager at a gm garage for 25 some years we have 5 or 6 of the early production engines that seized up from too tight of cleasrences on the crank oyher then all that they are good engines jmo from what ive been told and seen
