So i just got back from geting the girlfriend un stuck in wixom... of course she.was txting and went off the road! She didn't get a ticket for it, which is a $500 fine by the way, and let me pull her out... which is also a $160 fine i was told years ago by a cop when i was going to pull someone out. This guy was a cool dude, could have been a dick!
i love cops...
Treat Em Right And They Will Treat You Right! Thats How I've Avoided 22 Tickets!
applaudd My nieghbors a Sheriff and a cool one at that. I have always had respect for the Police. There are a few bad apples, but most are cool.
yup cops have always treated me right as long as i didnt try to feed them bull p00 lies and act weird. Just be truthful and nice from the get go and there pretty cool with ya.
i got my first ticket last week and i got one of those bad apples
This post made me think of when my old boss got pulled over. We were in his 70 convert. Stingray doing about 100mph and got pulled over. The cop asked if he knew why he pulled him over he said; Yeah because you have a beat up Dastun in your garage and I drive a Corvette. Needless to say he got a ticket.
==cl I get let go a lot, usually loud exhaust or lights out, etc.
i respectfully disagree....yeah the women got lucky not to get a ticket but what did that teach her..the next time she decides to break the law it might not be a ditch she runs into...it might be someone in your family and people are dieing over this bull p00...a good cop is one that does his job without prejudice so people learn to respect the laws that we have. jmo

yeah i would agree on most things...but texting is not one of them. speeding, not using a turn signal...other things that don't affect other drivers life...ok...but texting is becoming more and more of a problem and i bet mutt truck is thankful he just had to pull her out of the ditch and not identify her at the morge..and if u read his post he said "of course she was texting"...like she does it alot

x2
sorry i will stop on this post so it don't get carried away...but i got hit by a drunk driver and if i would have been wearing my seat belt..which at the time i almost always had...i would be dead...and it was his 3rd offense. so to me personally a cool cop is one that actually does his job in hopes that it won't happen again. not let u off so u can brag about your accomplishments on a web site.
we got a texting law thread in the politics section. lets get off the texting subject and back onto cool cops.
I have had to talk to cool cops, cops that think there all that cause they drive a cop car and park it infront of the highschool, and walk around like there all that, then i have had dumb cops that didnt no how to do there job.
All in all the cool cops get talked to cool, the wanna be all that cops get a cocky attitude, the dumb cops well i wont go there.
I've never got a ticket I didn't deserve but didn't get a couple I did.
must be nice, there are...zero cool cops around here, with the local police fighting with the state for the local turf since the state steps on the local cops toes, there are always tickets, i got a ticket for "excessive acceleration" but there was no tire spinning and i let off at 45 which is the speed limit. woulda been a careless driving ticket but i fought it, and the magistrate looked at the video and couldnt see anything wrong other than i was slightly heavy on acceleration but with no speeding the ticket was dropped. but on the other hand, i was up in muskegon this past weekend doing 65 in a 50 and the guy let me off with a warning, just depends on the cop and whats going on in their life that day. lol kudos to cool cops.
That's good to know ^^^^^^^ Always thought floorin it from a light was ok but I'm sure they will nail ya for whatever they want. I'm kinda on the fence with the ticket for punishment thing. Having a million
tickets and bad record to get clean keeps me being more legal but I had a cop once catch me speeding and said that if I respected him by NOT going fast then he'd respect me and not give me a citation. It
seriously made me WANT to respect him for treating me like that. It just all depends on the person and situation. And finally- I had a Davison cop manage to catch me and said that NOT writing me a ticket would
NOT change my habits so he went ahead an gave me one ==pissed He was however wrong about my habits changing. Like THANKS, just add to the problem why don't ya!
I've had my share of tickets! And I've gotten off QUITE A FEW!!! i guess it helps that my ol man is a retired cop, always helps to show alot of respect, and see if you can slip a "how ya doin today" and always a thank you even if you do get a ticket! especially if your in an accident. they'll be more likely to help ya out in court with it
they'll normally get ya for excessive acceleration if you have a loud exhaust system, think your trying to show off and what not. if ya draw attention to yourself they'll find ya! I had a 94 f250 long tube headers, about 2' of exhaust and a 3" flowmaster dumping right behind the cab.. never had a problem, but you better believe i babied the throttle when i was near any cop at all!
just a few lil things i've learned ;) most of all SHOW RESPECT, be cool to them they'll be cool to you
loll 14 points and respective tickets to show and respect would have gotten me no where. But point taken. ;D

i'll bring this thread to life again, lol
i had a quiet factory exhaust on the grand am, and it was a peppy little car so i will admit, i did beat on it but for the fun of it.
and today, i was driving west on 94 today, near Indiana, and i was cruising 88 to be exact, and as soon as i hit exit 1 in new buffalo, cop snagged me for speeding, and asked why i was going so fast, and i kinda played it a little bit, and said the car rides so nice blah blah, ran my id, checked my plates and insurance, came back up, handed me my stuff and said slow it down a little, so i reply with a thanks and go about my way. so pretty much, just bringing up more stories hah, that was 18 over.
