wat brands do you prefer?
looking into getting one so i can learn to weld
wanting to get a mig.
thinking bout getting a harbor freight one.
wat should i look for when getting one?
Harbor Freight makes single use tools so I would stay away from those.... you get what you pay for..... I use both Lincoln and Miller welders at work and they both rock.
well for just starting out siimple welding wat kind would u prefer?
i have the best one thay have dont get it there junk!
the snap on??
no harbor freight one
oo u have one from there?
I've got a hobart arc and I love it
ehh i rely dont like arc welders to ole fashion for me i just wanna get a small mig
I've got the nice one, can weld from sheetmetal to inch thick and weld aluminum, once u get used to it its nice, the one I've got is about 500 but I didn't pay that for it, its about 4yrs old
stay away from the harbor freight junk, it's just that junk. I now use a lincoln and miller, love them both
I own a Miller MIG and a Lincoln MIG and Lincoln stick. I prefer the Miller, but the Lincolns are good too. Ive used my father in laws Hobart from Tractor supply. It welded ok but hes had to send it in for repairs a couple times.

I love mig and tig welding, sometimes i prefer to stick it! rusty crusty metal, thick crap, welding outdoors. stick welding aint ment to weld anything thin, like sheet metal or exhaust, i've done it and it can be done, but it dont work too great!
If your torn on what kind of welder to get.... get a MIG setup sheilding gas and solid wire and some flux core wire. same thing as stick welding but in a wirefeed.

You can weld thin things if you know how.

I've got over $700 into my 110v Lincoln setup and have never looked back! Gladly welds anything i could throw at it! Its a good investment for your lifetime... Spend the money once!

I was told once by an old welding instructor "Good welders are lazy" If you have the chance to lean on something to steady yourself your much better off!

lol i always try to do that balancing my hand off suin to limit shaking
yea i used arc in metal shop welding together 2 pieces of 2inch square tubing and welded pretty good but someone swapped out the rods i was using and it instantly burnt threw
Miller
miller ;D
i bought a cheap mig welder, $800, and i wish i wouldve just saved and bought the miller i have now the first time. depends how much you plan on welding. duty cycle is important also
Duty cycle is everything! You cant weld if the machine cant produce! They get hot and weld quality goes down. The longer the duty cycle, the better the machine. ;D
I have a Lincoln MIG 255, works Sweet !
idk anyone ever used a power mig astro power 110?

Never heard of it.
me either had one ofered to me at a fair price wondered if any1 used one
hobart handler . its a 220 and it works great best $ i ever spent . i think you can get them for under 800
got my 110v and 220v lincoln migs and haven't had an issue out of them yet besides the 220v don't like running the spool gun. needed more power.
I Got A 220 Lincon, I Love It....Pretty Impressed With The 220 Hobart Too!
I like the miller and lincoln, but this boy could only afford the hobart. I got the ironman from TSC. Gotta say for 1/3 the price of the big names, the hobart kicks azz. Oh and my hobart actually has a miller lead and gun! lol I think they are kinda usin alot of the same stuff.

Hobart 235 AC this machine welds very smooth, but requires a 50 amp and no less outlet. Hard to find a place to plug it in, as most homes have only 30 amp (like for a dryer or range). Something to consider when you buy a machine is do you have the necessary power readily available to run it. My main is only 60 amp, I cant run this machine at home.

I've got the 235/160 ac/dc welder, the next step up, I love it
use all miller at work, i weld with em everyday, like em
but lincoln makes one called the handy mig that might be worth looking into
stay away from harbor freight thay will weld but not verry good
