Title: chevy 350 swirl ports and roller rocker arms
Post by: OHEARN.2012 on April 04, 2011, 03:27:53 AM
ok so im doing a 355 tbi build and i picked up my head block etc yesterday and i found out that my heads wfi swirl port head 1.94 intake/1.5001 exhaust

i just wondered if these heads are any good?

also wondered if runnin roller rocker arms would do much good i know they reduce friction between rocker and spring but are they worth it on these heads?

and i would run roller tips, not full rollers. full rollers are mainly for the high lift and high revs motors. but stamped ones should do ya just fine if ya wanted to save some cash

can always upgrade the rockers down the road too. theyre easy enough to get to and the only issue with em is just resetting the valve lash with the new ones. still not that hard. the money would be better spent in other places IMO

Stock rockers...your motor will never see enough rpm to benefit from roller rockers. Save that money for machine work, get heads mild ported, friggin mirror like polish job and gasket matched to your intake, also have intake gasket matched.

I did all mine for free because I worked in a factory that had a machine shop...if you have to pay for the work I would guess a reasonable price would be $500.

You cannot port the p00 out of these heads or you will actually ruin the flow and the swirl port effect and lose a lot of bottom end TQ...that is why I said mild port.

You will get your biggest gains from gasket matching both the heads and intake, the polish will help prevent carbon build up effecting flow in the future and will help with the flow in general.

You are going through a lot of p00 trying to build this motor, you should have just bought my suburban and swapped motors and re sold the suburban ==roll
