Title: whoops! im sorry...
Post by: J.C. on April 19, 2011, 01:11:37 PM
Governor Snyder will sign the "I'm Sorry" legislation into law this afternoon. Under the "I'm Sorry" law, health care professionals will be able to say "I'm sorry," if they mess up a medical procedure, and their apology won't be used as an admission of guilt in a civil lawsuit. Lawmakers say this will lead to fewer malpractice lawsuits and lower health care premiums. What's your opinion on this?

isnt an apology an admission of guilt? like oh, i messed up, so im sorry. i guess it could be used in sorrow, but if a doctor messed up my mom or kid, id be expecting alot more than a sorry...  so why is it different? some doctor commits malpractice, says sorry, its all better?

anyone know how it will lower healthcare premiums, and have lower malpractice lawsuits? sounds like ya wouldnt even have a chance at malpractice lawsuit...

and this isnt a republican/democrat debate. just wanna see your opinions!

Anytime a person or a doctor messes up something they should be held liable. If I fall asleep at the wheel and kill or hurt someone you bet your ass they are gonna be looking for compensation, and rightfully so.  Seems like a legal loop hole for the government when the take hold of health care to me!

You can say I am sorry all you want but in the end a good lawyer will convince 12 jury members he owes you some money.

You think if I went in for a vasectomy and the doctor sneezed during the procedure and cut off one of the boys and the doctor said (whoooooooops I'm sorry) that all the male jury members would not grant me some cashola?

sounds just like a way of making it easier for dr to be able to screw up freely and not be able to be held liable for it

to fix this problem they should go back to the good ole days when your time is up...it's up. people won't be drawing 25 years of social security, they gov won't be spending trillions on premi babys and there wouldn't be know such thing as an ADD baby getting social security from the time he/she hits school until they die. i don't have health care and i don't know if any of u have noticed but the p00 has done nothing but go up...my office cost has went from 75 to 135...and now most things that were done in house r no longer done....so if a little more paperwork has to be filed before u can sue...so be it
