Im at a loss i drive gas gussling full size trucks

s-10, i've had a few of em, the bodys rot off the frames long before the motors have any trouble
my Toyota pick up was my best vehicle ever ...but I have a wonderful minivan for sale and I think aerostars run for ever... I have owned two aerostars... I think my Dad owned 6 different ones.... I can't believe they stopped making them!
im leaning to a s10 blazer for her but hear they suck on gas milage ????? dont get much less then a full size ??but i know the parts are cheep and easy to find but she drive an hour each way to work got to get something decent for gas

I love S10's but they come with a whole lot of problems! I have owned many in my lifetime and have replaced Ball joints, Pitman arms, Idler arms, fuel pumps, 4x4 actuators, 4x4 switches, 4x4 transfer case vacuum switches, intake manifold gaskets, leaking oil cooler lines just to name a few common problems.
If you get one I would recommend a 1999 or newer, the sunshell in the transmission in 98 and older was a weak point.
There are many mods you can do to increase gas mileage for cheap, custom PCM tuning is one of them, waitforme performance will tune your computer for $75...if you have a 2001 or newer or retrofit the 1411 computer in a older OBDII S10 he can enable lean cruise and really pull some mpg out of it on the highway. They are not too bad on mileage to begin with as long as they are running correctly.
A lot of people who complain about bad gas mileage needs to change their O2 sensors, O2 sensors can become lazy and cause bad gas mileage while still being in spec and not throwing a check engine light.
A properly tuned and running S10 should pull over 20mpg all day long on the freeway and get no less than 16mpg in the cty.
Me personally if I was to buy a $3000 4x4 daily driver I would shy away from another S10 and look at a Jeep Cherokee with a 4.0 six cyl in it, they are bullet proof motors and over all just plain reliable, we bought our kid one last spring for $1200 and it had a few issues like the brake lights did not work and the sway bar mount bolts was broke, I fixed those two things and he has been driving the crap out of it ever since with Zero problems.
Here is a few pics of his $1200 Cherokee, Imagine what I could find for $3000!
was woundering about jeeps
Cavalier, Lumina good cars, cheap to run or get a ford escort. Wait, ya gotta have 3-4 fords to keep one runnin ==lmaoo
