Post by: chevy_4x4_trucks on August 05, 2011, 04:44:31 AM
Ok  so im getting ready to do the v8 swap in the jimmy and i have been told that to do so i have to either cut a hole in the fire wall or put a body lift in it to make room for the distributor is this true?also for those of you that have done these swaps before do you have any advice to make this less of a headache for me. Any input would be much appreciated thanks.

I have not seen it done on a second gen S10 but I know on a first gen you can just smack the firewall with a BFH and make enough room for the dizzy to clear, personally I would just cut out a section and weld in a patch panel molded for clearance, or you could drop in a LSX motor they have no distributor.

When you get it all done lets race it against our Bravada  ;D

Well yours being lifted, the motor could sit down a lot with solid engine mounts so you should be able to get away with it, if not bfh will make room

you dont have to smack the firewall if you move the mounts forward and use electric cooling fans...
