Post by: MuddIce on August 10, 2011, 01:14:48 AM
hello all, I have a question about changeing my 1/2 ton front end to a 3/4 front end(79 ford bronco) with out changeing houseing... I was told that all you had to do was swap out the knuckle... I was wondering if that was true or not?? Any help would be greatly appreciated..

Thanks..

it all depends on what year the front ends is of  the 3/4 ton is?

the front end 3/4 ton is 78 and the bronco is 79... THANKS  for info.. just wanted to make sure before we dig into it.. any other idea's will greatly help..... one of tho projects that i have been putting off.. was going to weld up 9" rear end. started pulling rear axles out and the bearings hit the ground.. so i guess no time like the present to get to changeing to 3/4 stuff..

You will need to swap everything from the balljoint out.

well i got into my project. much to my disliking ==doh i really didnt up grade anything.  I do however now have 8 bolt suff. I did end up with a dana 60 rear end and still the same dana front end with 8 bolt rotors. I did not have to swap out the knuckle. ( :(this is where i relize i didnt gain much  ==pissed) all i had to do was change the spindle and put the rotor on...I then got a first hand lesson on how to set the ring and pinion.. that wasnt to bad, but i do believe i got it. the dana 60 rear end was just a easy bolt in deal, but the shafts seem to be smaller than my 9" 1/2 tone stuff. dose this sound right??  ???  Thanks to all that gave me help and idea's

IF it was a ford 44 all you needed to do was swap out the spindles, rotors and bearings. that all I had to do to mine.  But then I swapped it over to Chrvy parts so I had to swap out everything from the C's out.
